Harikandi said most of those hospitalised had been discharged, however many had to undergo dialysis and some were left blind by the poisoning. Iranian authorities have identified three retailers and arrested nine people so far in connection with the supply and distribution of the beverages, Harikandi said.

Well if their religious beliefs about alcohol are more important than human lives to them then I guess this won’t ever change. Natural selection, I guess. USA tried to do the same stupid shit and people kept dying. It’s like these people just want people to die lol no one will EVER get rid of Alcohol and drug use completely. Yeah, principled laws are always doomed to fail. We’re all human and the laws we make should reflect that.
If a prohibiting law makes the addictive substance more harmful to addicts, you have failed the people you’re trying to protect.
Or it lets you profit off of their free slave labor while keeping the status quo of society in check when you enact manhunts on the addicts. Which is exactly what happens.
