    tl;dr:

Iranian authorities have arrested nine people in connection with the production and sale of illicit alcoholic beverages. The number of people killed by alcohol poisoning in the Iranian city of Karaj has reached 17, Iran’s IRNA news agency reported on Friday. Hossein Fazli Harikandi, Chief Justice of Alborz province, said 191 people had been hospitalised due to drinking illicitly produced alcoholic beverages containing methanol, an industrial alcohol used in the production of solvents and pesticides. Harikandi said most of those hospitalised had been discharged, however many had to undergo dialysis and some were left blind by the poisoning. Iranian authorities have identified three retailers and arrested nine people so far in connection with the supply and distribution of the beverages, Harikandi said.

Well if their religious beliefs about alcohol are more important than human lives to them then I guess this won’t ever change. Natural selection, I guess. USA tried to do the same stupid shit and people kept dying. It’s like these people just want people to die lol no one will EVER get rid of Alcohol and drug use completely. Trust me if “god” isn’t going to do it the governments of the world for sure aren’t. It’s so brain dead to try to control people this way. Maybe they should pray about it more though and keep people dying! That’s the answer, I bet.

Yeah, principled laws are always doomed to fail. We’re all human and the laws we make should reflect that.

If a prohibiting law makes the addictive substance more harmful to addicts, you have failed the people you’re trying to protect.

Or it lets you profit off of their free slave labor while keeping the status quo of society in check when you enact manhunts on the addicts. Which is exactly what happens.
