Oooh yes I do have bits of fabric lying around, mostly from the patch jobs I’ve done for my partner’s jeans lol. I’ll see if there’s a piece big enough to turn into a headband!
Edit: and no, not necessarily. I tend to wear my hair down when wearing a headset, so my hair covers my earrings and they don’t hurt as much 😂
Headbands are easy to sew too. You need length to be length around your head less about 10-15 cm. Width to be about the width of your palm plus seam allowance. Hem the long edges, and sew a 20 cm ribbon to each short edge (also hemmed) to tie the headband on. I recommend grosgrain ribbon as it holds more securely than plain or satin ribbon. If you like, line the inside surface with a strip of thin terry towelling for extra grip so the headband doesn’t slip around.
Yes, I had exactly the same problem growing out short haircuts myself when younger. We are lucky, though. A bit of curl in your hair means that the bits that extend out beyond the headband at the back form nice curls/semi ringlets that tumble around but don’t get in the way. I kinda liked that look.
