FIFA is now charging around $175 on average for parking spots at 2026 World Cup games in the United States.
Holy shit - $175 to park your vehicle for one game?! What’s the chances that these venues are completely inacessible to public transport / walking?
HEHe if that 175 is a shock to you, wait until you look up the ticket prices.
Also every hotel that is within any reasonable distance to a FIFA game will double their rates… at least double.
Oh yeah I totally expet their rates to increase massively. And for people who made a reservation a long time ago who paid under the normal fee to have their booking suddenly cancelled.
There is no way anyone made reservations under normal rates.
The locations of FIFA games are set 8 years in advance. Hotels know how much they can charge for events likethis.
I don’t understand why people pay so much for this. They just bend over and let that greedy-ass cartel screw them at every turn.
no way i’m shocked that a corrupt organisation would do something so corrupt
I wonder at what point it’s worthwhile to have a group to park at some mall and rent a van to drive to the stadium parking.
If any positive outcome is possible here, I’d be nice if this gets people accustomed to carpooling to such events. Sure would be nice though if these stadiums would be serviced by more effective transportation.
I can’t speak to European Football Games, that how I have travelled to NFL games for years.
I live in the Baltimore Area and many restaurants in the surrounding counties offer bus services to the game. It is such a great way to get back and forth to the game. You don’t to deal with stadium traffic and after the game its nice to get an early dinner.
When the Washington Commanders (then redskins) played in RFK stadium it was connected to the DC metro. That was such a great way to get to and from the game.
It is so easy to take the train from NYC to Met Life stadium in Jersey where the NY Giants and Jets play.
I have been to four different NFL stadiums and they all have ride share pickup and drop off points/areas.
