"Looking ahead at 2025
What do I plan to do in 2025?
My enthusiasm for the Fediverse keeps growing with each passing day. In the coming weeks, I plan to write about:
- my experiences self-hosting with GoToSocial
- PeerTube (the Fediverse’s alternative to YouTube)
- The Friends plugin for Wordpress by Alex Kirk, which allows you to put your Wordpress site at the center of your online activities
- Mobilizon: a Fediverse project that helps you find, create and organize events
- Matrix.org: a Fediverse-adjacent open network for secure, decentralized communications
And so much more! There are several Fediverse projects like Hubzilla and Pleroma that I keep hearing about and have yet to try."–
- “activitypub wordpress plugin” three words that don’t belong together . I want to blog on the fediverse, but i don’t want wordpress. - I haven’t used it myself, but I’ve seen Ghost mentioned as a great alternative to Wordpress.
- You may also use one of the Fediverse macroblogging services for blogging: Friendica and Hubzilla allow you to write and design texts without a character limit. WriteFreely and Plume are also available specifically for blogging.
- It works well though 🤷♂️
- i don’t want wordpress. - Me neither, but a lot of folks do (or at least think they do), and if this makes it an approachable gateway into the larger fediverse for them, I’m all for it. - They can always switch to something better, later.
