🎉 Introducing Welcome, a new fediverse onboarding experience powered by #FediDB.
Give it a try, and spread the word ✨
If you select ‘Forum Discussions’ under ‘What type of content do you want to see or share?’, NodeBB, Lemmy, mbin, Piefed and Lotide are then recommended. That fits well.
But if you select ‘Social Media Post + ’Forum Discussions", Mastodon, Misskey and other microblogging services are recommended, as well as Lemmy. But not mbin, which actually offers exactly this combination, and also not Friendica, which can do micro-/macroblogging, but also offers forums/groups and federates best with both directions.
So it’s perhaps a little under-complex, but nicely done and a good new contact point for interested people.
This is totally a display of form over function.
The main issue for newcomers is the paradox of choice, and unless you are some exceptional case you’ll end up clicking more than one of the options and be facing a wall of options to choose from.
Also, what is the use case for recommending Emissary?
I’m still unable the change the Mbin logo in fedidb -,-
melroy@kbin.melroy.org I think you have to open a PR to their repo to get it updated?
Yes I did that, and it was merged 4 months ago: https://github.com/fedidb/communityDB/pull/13
Yet, I still see the old logo / image :(
melroy@kbin.melroy.org oh sorry to hear that :frowning: hopefully Dan hasn’t moved on from FediDB already.
