It was in lots of flat pieces of plastic that had to be bent and attached together so it took a while, but I’m pleased with the result. I just need to get to the assembly of the bedside tables and the bedroom will be done.
I stopped on the way home and got some Maccas for dinner, ordered chicken nuggets so they would be easy to eat while driving. I received chicken wings instead, which failed the easy to eat test but were very tasty. I’m not sure how the staff in those places can handle busy periods, it was absolute chaos in the kitchen there.
I also got some petrol - drove in the wrong side of the pump on autopilot, but remembered before I got out and did a loop around to the right side.
The pets are very glad I am home (and that they finally got dinner). I put away the frozen stuff I brought up, and Miss Meow took the opportunity to explore the garage and van a bit while I had the door open. I also put out the bins, the new pet fencing I put up worked well - I can reach the bins easily over the fence, and don’t have to worry about Mr Woof while I have the side gate open putting them out.
I didn’t think it would come out that well either, it seems like the colour didn’t actually soak into the carpet fibres so it was able to actually wash out.
Bissel carpet cleaner and lots of water.
Carpet cleaner and lots of water. I actually forgot to pack the cleaning fluids so that’s just using hot water. Going over it with proper cleaning stuff would probably get the last bit out. I’m surprised it came out as well as it did.
I’m back at my old place today. It looks really tatty without the furniture hiding things. It’s amazing how dirty walls can get. Vacuuming is improving things slightly, but it really needs a good renovation (if it’s not knocked down entirely).
I’ve dismantled Miss Meow’s old cat tree, when the weather warms up I’ll use the pieces to make her an outdoor tree in the covered area.
Next main task is a quick cleanup of my nasty carpet stain. It was caused by a dented tin of plums fermenting and spraying juice everywhere. But it looks like a murder scene.
Thankyou, it worked perfectly. I made it home and then slept for hours - only just got up now.
Some magic food that will keep me awake and alert for the last half hour of work and the drive home, whilst still letting me sleep well when I get home to bed.
Having my routines messed up by moving and changing my work hours meant I didn’t do washing when I should have and almost ran out of clothes. It’s also been terrible drying weather, but I fortunately have an undercover area I can set up my clothes horse so I finally have clean and dry clothes tooday. Except for one t-shirt which got blown onto the ground and rained on.
I’m going to do my main cleaning day before my first night shift each week, which meant I got to come home to nice fresh sheets on the bed this morning. Athough I’m probably too exhausted at that point to really appreciate it.
After ditching my planned trip back to Melbourne last week I really have to go this week. Hopefully I can fit pretty much everything else I need into the back of the van (which will include the lawnmower which is really needed up here with the way the grass has been grrowing) but I’ll also need one more trip in a couple of weeks to organise rubbish collection for a bunch of stuff I’m getting rid of. I’m looking forward to not having to keep doing that drive, or at least not on my own time - there will be regular trips back on work time which are a very different thing to losing your own days off.
I would like Jupiter to align with Mars please.
They’re not really that simple, they do the planning and provide the ingredients but there is still a lot of actual cooking and chopping involved. They also don’t do single meals, so you either need to work out how to divide it over a couple of nights cooking or have a lot of leftovers.
I really should be doing some cleaning but Miss Meow has me pinned down on the couch and is purring madly.
I did get a small shelf for my toaster oven assembled and have put up the small fence to keep Mr Woof and Miss Meow away from the side gate. I now have a small utility courtyard for the bins etc., and hopefully being open metal bars instead of solid it won’t trigger Mr Woof to try digging under it to get out to come and find me when I’m away. He seems to stress out if I’m gone more than about 20 minutes.
I choose to believe that is a ring cake. My slice was delicious, not donuty at all.
I bought a thick soft mattress topper (10cm thick bamboo) and also got some new linen sheets. It has definitely made the bed extra cozy. I also have a heated throw rug on the couch though, so there are lots of competing cozy spots around.
Whilst I do enjoy a good drive in the countryside, in the dark trying to get home from work is not really the time. I think the GPS was trying to send me the long way around to avoid some traffic, but driving back country roads you don’t know in the dark is not fun.
In good news though I had many packages when I got home, including the lost Bunnings parcel that has been spending the last week touring the state. Miss Meow has some new steps, which arrived with a bit of damage but seem to be holding together ok, and she also has a new mat to go in front of the litter trays to help contain her wild litter flinging ways.
I also have a couple of rugs which look fairly lightweight but should be decent enough for occasional use in the garage, a stand to put the toaster oven on, a rolling stand for my computer cpu, and new rollerblade style castors for my office chair. I just need to figure out how to get the old ones off.
I’m tempted to start another account just so I can upvote this a second time.
I had to read the comment a few times before I could understand it, because a father hearing his daughter screaming in the night and not running in straight away to find out what is wrong and providing comfort just didn’t make sense to me. Actually berating her for it is just appalling behaviour.
@LowExperience2368@aussie.zone the only question to ask here is WTF is wrong with your father, you have absolutely no reason to feel guilty.
This cold is treating me very badly - the congestion is not terrible but the brain fog is. I just did an online grocery delivery order and trying to make decisions was very hard.
I think I’ll take the next two night shifts off and try working again next week. I really need to get the energy to take the washing off the line that’s been there a couple of days already - at least it should be dry if it hasn’t blown away. I might try to wash some towels too.
