Squirrels are very frequently hunted with a .22. It works great for squirrels, but (like a pellet rifle) can be lethal to a human - especially if you shoot them in the head.

And there’s legitimate reasons to shoot squirrels. I used to do it for an exotic animal preserve because their population would explode and they’d eat everything in site.

Years ago, in the scuba subreddit, I posted some pictures of some gear sets we had in a glass case in our shop we’d recovered along with the bodies of their divers in a local cave. It’s our warning not to fuck around with cave diving without the proper gear and training.

Another person in the sub started chatting about some other interesting memorabilia I’d put up in the shop, and it was clear he was one of my divemasters.

So he and I suddenly knew each other’s reddit handles, and turned out our paths had crossed in several other niche subs, and we realized how many hobbies we didn’t even realize we shared despite hanging out weekly at the shop.

You can’t just pick up an instrument and sound good. That’s not how they work.

If you want to just be able to make music in a pub without having to work at it, use a phone. Otherwise, you’ll need to put in a great deal of time and effort.

That being out of the way: guitar. It’s an instrument with loads of resources on how to play, doesn’t need to be accompanied by other instruments, and is very controllable when it comes to volume.

And you don’t have to be amazing to play something fun.
