Russia is a match for the EU if it can divide and conquer the individual nations, something which it has been very succesful in doing so far. Brexit was a huge win for Putin for example. The funding of all the fascist Putin-friendly populist parties, which experiences so much success in various European countries are literally a fifth Putin column, ready to dismantler their nations and turn them into Russian puppet states (like Hungary).
EU, and Europe in general, needs to stand closer, something which the EU doesn’t really adequately do in its current form.
