As it should. Gen AI music platform, SUNO, has its own TikTok like sharing section and you can browse the entire catalog. I am sure other platforms have the same. AI doesn’t need to pollute spaces like Bandcamp.

Good thing Epic sold them, Sweeney would’ve never allowed it

I didn’t see that news. Apparently their new parent company had immediately fired half the Bandcamp staff

Yeah that was pretty sad, but I had hopes since they were at least out of Epic’s clutches

I actually liked a couple of the ai songs I stumbled upon on YouTube music (didn’t actually know they were AI at first).

But listening to one is complete poison to your algorithms. They’ll post a new ‘single’ every single day, flooding your recommendations with everything they produce.

I honestly might never have realized the stuff I was listening to was AI if they didn’t do this. But since they do, I’ve had to go full scorched earth on them, completely erasing them from my listen history and I refuse to even bother listening to anything else from any ‘artist’ doing the same thing.

I think these people are shooting any possible acceptance they might’ve had in the foot by drowning even AI ambivalent people under a flood of highly similar content. It just becomes way too much and burns you out in record time.

Might be platform specific. I’m on Apple Music and have added songs from a few parody AI artists, at most I will get 1 suggestion per week out of 25 songs on my new music playlist. Even when I went on a binge of Obscurest Vinyl his stuff quickly dropped off the list. I’m usually quite intentional about feeding the algorithm though.

This will only ban the explicitly or obvious AI music. There will be stealth tracks or tracks that have AI created elements mixed in with real ones.

Still, this is a good idea if only to prevent their service from being spammed with low quality garbage.
