Yeah, I forgot to specify that I was thinking of birds that can maneuver into a soft landing. I think penguins are dealing with enough already anyway.

I don’t think of a penguin as semi flightless, i believe it’s considered flightless. A chicken would be semi-flightless.
I’ve had chickens explicitly enjoy being tossed and thrown so they could do a soft landing. They ran up to me over and over and once picked up either went for a cuddle or wings wide in anticipation.
It’s worth noting that I edited in the “semi” prefix after they replied, because while that’s what I meant, the unedited post made it seem like I wanted to toss ostriches around.
