I’d prefer that money remain in the USA and pay for healthcare, infrastructure, and student loan debt relief.

They’re not sending them crates of cash, they’re sending them weapons that have already been produced in America and paid for by America with money that goes to the military industrial complex. Kindly shut the fuck about up about shit you don’t understand.

The money goes where? Read that part again.

Stays in America paying American salaries which goes back to the country via their taxes.

The money goes to billionaire weapons manufacturers that perpetuate war because that is their business. We pay them to arm Ukraine and beta test new weapons on Russians to sell those new weapons later to Israel to kill Palestinians. Looking at weapons deals for Ukraine as if it’s a self contained bubble where the good guys win is delusional.

Don’t worry, it actually remains in the USA. Part of it is money that was already spent decades ago for equipment that supposed to be retired, the other part is being put into US economy as the USA is producing those weapons.

Also it is rounding error compared to the money spend for healthcare, infrastructure and student loan debt relief: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_federal_budget#/media/File%3A2022_US_Federal_Budget_Infographic.png

Every cent we spend in Ukraine is arguably the best return on investment the US has ever had. With no US casualties we have effectively purchased the decimation of our enemies military and crippled their ability to wage any meaningful military action for decades.

Had Putin been successful in Ukraine he would already be setting about plans for the next bullshit excuse to invade the next nation. We played games with Hitler and conceded nation after nation only to find out that he had no intention of ever stopping. These men are all the same.

We can have a conversation about the billions of dollars wasted by the US government every year, this is not one of those instances.

Yes, it’s actually rather low considering the threat of Fascism sweeping across the EU. Russia will not stop at Ukraine, and Putin has been shoring up his new Axis for years. His crown jewel will be the US handed over on a gold platter by the next Republican administration.

Trump already gifted Putin a US military base in Syria for his birthday in 2019 and took upon himself to surrender Afghanistan to the Taliban through a perfect and beautiful deal he ‘negotiated’ without including the Afghanis.

Putin is hell-bent on reforming the old Russian Empire and becoming tzar before he dies. He knows he doesn’t have long to accomplish this.

If he isn’t soundly defeated soon, he may start another global war. Nobody – excepting billionaires and the insane – wants that horror. Appeasement never works.

Healthcare, infrastructure, and education for you? You, that don’t even understand how this money works?

Trust me, they are better spent in this way. I would be curious to know where in the US you are from.

Good news: we have plenty of money for that!

Bad news: Republicans will never let us spend it that way.

Never, ever, let anyone tell you the we lack social programs because we don’t have enough money.

You’re either very naive about politics or you’re arguing in bad faith. Lack of spending on domestic priorities has nothing to do with a lack of money and everything to do with Republicans not wanting those programs funded at all. They’d rather spend in on corporate welfare and tax cuts for billionaires.

Tbh I wish to agree with you even though you have downvotes, the empire phase of America needs to end. Whatever Russia is trying to accomplish in the Ukraine needs to end.

Russia should choose social democracy because it works and so should we. Russia as it stands can not be allowed to succeed, and America as it stands should embrace a revolutionary change that allows us to meet in the middle with social democracy.

The truth is we can afford to do both though, fight with Ukraine and take care of our people. There is more than enough wealth to give the Ukraine the chance to self determination and do the litany of things we’ve neglected to further capitalism. The pity is that we don’t demand both.

The thing that people are not understanding is that this isn’t just Russia vs Ukraine war. This is war against the West. It didn’t start with Ukraine and if Russia succeeds it won’t end in Ukraine. Russia tries to get back to superpower status and Ukraine is an important piece in restoring old USSR regions.

The crazy thing is that what needs to be done was even outlined in a book written by Alexander Dugin and until Ukraine invasion everything was going really well (even ahead of schedule, even seemingly unrelated thing like BrExit was part of it, note that book was published in 1997): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundations_of_Geopolitics#Content

I didn’t read a single thing from that that I didn’t already get, what I’m arguing is that American control, is not what is best for the planet and arguing against dugin is just our own version of espousing similarly flawed beliefs.

this part especially seems to point the flaws in his argument, but so are the same flaws found in our own march to go to war with Russia.

“The battle for the world rule of Russians” has not ended and Russia remains “the staging area of a new anti-bourgeois, anti-American revolution”. The Eurasian Empire will be constructed “on the fundamental principle of the common enemy: the rejection of Atlanticism, strategic control of the U.S., and the refusal to allow liberal values to dominate us.”"

In the march to war, the call to be cautious and settle things peacefully is always rejected. But I’m not arguing for that I want the Ukraine to have self determination, I just don’t think we should think we get to do it because it serves American interests, we should do it because it is the right thing to do. And we should take care of Healthcare, education, housing, ubi, etc.
