When in doubt, you can always view the modlog. It will show you the full comment and the stated reasons for removal:

          https://lemmy.world/modlog

This is all public info, just be aware that a lot of the removed comments are pretty terrible. ;)

Looked in the modlog. Doesn’t seem like that violated rule 3. Seems like you violated rule 6. Gonna ban yourself?

Edit: crossed out the bit where I was wrong, but left it for context

If you looked at the modlog you’d see that while the comments were removed, nobody was banned.

Rule 6 states: “No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning”

Nothing in my comments were “hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence or abusive language.”

My apologies, saw the wrong list of rules. My mistake.

Though I never stated or implied that anyone was banned.

Where can the correct rules be viewed? If I look at the rules for this community, the numbers don’t line up. And searching for lemmy.world rules doesn’t give any useful results.

The rules for each community can be viewed on the Sidebar. How you get there varies depending on how you’re… Lemmying? Verbing weirds language.

From the web interface, in each community, there should be a button for “sidebar”.

Don’t worry about not reading it, most people don’t!

Edit And it’s my turn to apologize, I quoted you rule 6 from Politics since my head has been stuffed in Politics moderation all night.

Rule 6 for World News is:

“Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.”

Still, nothing in my comments falls under rule 6.

Nah I’m confused because I did read it. The sidebar for world news says that this is rule 3

Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.

Which doesn’t even make sense to apply to a comment.

And says that this is rule 6

Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.

(I was jokingly accusing you of violating rule 6 because the removed comment could maybe be said to violate that one. It’s a bit of a stretch but at least plausible.)

So still kinda confused because you quoted a different rule 6.
