The only app I miss from Android is BirthDayDroid. This app takes birthdays information from contacts and send notifications about them. Also provides convenient interface too look at the upcoming birthdays. GNU/Linux phones also have contacts and also support birthday fields. But is there a similar app to notify about birthdays?

I use Evolution for email (which … well, is somewhat doable with scale-to-fit), and it notifies me about contact birthdays.
I have my Contacts in NextCloud and it automatically creates a calendar called “Contact birthdays” which then shows up as a aditional calendar and in the morning you get a notification on your phone or computer about that birthday.
