Afaik NZ has already implemented such a rule.

Huh. I gave it a try, and while drunk, i just went on and on, but overall it just smelled so bad that it never became a habit. I guess i’m lucky
But… you have choice. Nobody needs to go to taylor Swifts concerts. Nobody needs to see the next Marvel movie. It’s a business.
As long as people only spend money on things that are worth more to them than said money, everyone is fine. If people can’t control their purchases, it isn’t the industry’s fault.
I’m fortunate to not enjoy popular culture in the first place.
And a lifestyle that doesn’t require cars seems incomprehensible to them.
It seems that when a dictator’s interests differ from his countries interests, the entire country becomes foreign to him
Isn’t cheap land good for anything that involves land use?
We have the north sea, quite windy and shallow enough to build tall wind Mills.
Currently the power rating is up to 10 MW and the blades are over 100m (300ft) long.
I agree
I didn’t say density is the paramount parameter. Also, once you optimize one drawback, it generally gets less important.
I just wanted to put the image into context, and show that it isn’t a big step backwards, just sideways perhaps. Or in other words, a sigle wind farm isn’t relevant, the sum is
It’s about density. Renewables Are great, but not on terms of value add per square foot. The coal under the wind mill is worth orders of magnitude more than the windmill.
And, it’s not as bad as it sounds. In general, the number of windmills keeps increasing.
I’m absolutely not surprised.
Them and chemicals in general.

No, i actually meant to be constructive. Nevermind
I just wanted to point out that we have choice. Though it seems redundant, because everyone who end up on Lemmy should know that
Well, then go to a nice community, perhaps even a different instance.
That decline is slower than I expected. It shows that more people stay than not
His statement isn’t really about the severity of the issue, he just says that people are prone to give up
The thing is, America is culturally really influenctial. Here in Germany we have a wide variety of jobs that typically pay minimum wage. Some are service related, others aren’t. It’s roughly 20% of the workforce.
But we listen to american podcasts, watch your movies, your series and so on.
So waiters tend to get minimum wage + tax free tips, while cashiers just get minimum wage. Granted, tips are more like 10% here. I hate tips being an expectation.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
Operating nodes is expensive, offers no reward, and comes with a serious legal risk.
This won’t stop the NSA from operating a few. I assume that a significant portion of Tor nodes is run by intelligence agencies. If they control all nodes used for a connection(i believe three are used), they can probably piece together what connections a user is having.
I’m under the impression that my use will only make it slower for people who really need it.
Lemmy seems to be the old nerdy internet of the 90s, prior to the enshittification
