This should be the next step for me. When you do aliased commands, can they take arguments? Like to download a playlist with yt-dlp, could i do download-playlist [URL]?

That’s a really good point. Sliding scale payment maybe (with no cap on income - if you make a million bucks a year and are always speeding, you’re going to be paying a hefty fine)

I feel like the better option is to have local government foot the bill - but the driver owes the value of the device if it’s lost or damaged. In theory, insurance would have to cover at least some of this (given it’d be wired into the car) and they can still use their car. AND if they drive safely, they should owe nothing long-term.
That’s idealistic though. I’m sure the “tough on crime” crowd would want the individual to foot the bill despite it making everyone safer.

And speed is highly correlated to the lethality of car wrecks. Also, it sounds like the devices would be installed in the cars of people who… speed frequently.
So, it is directly addressing the problem without asset seizure or jail time. Sounds like an ideal solution, actually.
Its the heat, mostly. If you use the low or very low/delicate settings, it will help.
I find that there is no benefit from using medium or high heat. It just shrinks my clothes. Low/delicate doesn’t and I haven’t noticed any damage.
Other trick: wash and dry pants inside out to avoid fading. Also, this stuff only applies to fabrics that are dryer safe, obviously

Go to the doctor. Especially if you are in otherwise OK shape and your capacity for exercise doesn’t seem to improve with practice. Being unable to walk for one hour without severe fatigue is pretty good evidence of exercise intolerance.
Exercise intolerance is basically an inability to perform physical activities that someone your age typically would be able to.
This can be evidence of various underlying health issues (heart, lungs, muscle disorders, nutritional deficiencies).

Yeah, i just mean open terminal then type xkill and click. I thought ctrl+alt+t was the default in ubuntu/mint

If you can’t see the terminal, then that’s pretty bad so idk -> if everything goes unresponsive I just slap my monitor in impotent fury and reboot
If you can see the terminal but not the window, idk if xkill would work. Then you’d need to find the process id and kill it with pkill.
Like say you’re playing age of empires 2: pgrep aoe (should return all running processes called aoe with their pids > process: aoe2 pid: 69420 …or something like that) then: pkill 69420 > ded

Oooh I’ve never messed with that before but that sounds like a good fix.

Trouble alt+tabbing out of games in mint + cinnamon from fullscreen windowed and fullscreen. I can switch to other open windows easily, but what I can’t do is click my sound manager shortcut in the taskbar to change audio devices, etc. So I have to open up the sound management application to make the changes. The desired behavior is to alt tab back to the desktop environment where the application being switched to is.
Trouble with specific windows only appliations that I can’t get to work in wine/bottles. One I need to update my car’s infotainment system and it’s a huge pain in the ass. Trouble with weird .dll and font issues that are seemingly unresolvable, even once placing the relevant dlls and fonts in the right folders. Not linux’s fault, just shitty software design. But still difficult.

Ctrl+alt+t -> xkill -> click window you want to terminate
But yes I agree that seeing a better GUI of open programs and attached processes would be good to have.

I really don’t think original buldak noodles are very spicy at all. Like, I can feel it, but it isn’t what I would consider to be very spicy. They also don’t taste good, though. Like 3/10 spiciness.
Typical buffalo sauce or name brands like tabasco, cholula, etc. are not noticeably spicy to me.like 0/10 spiciness.
I have a decent spice tolerance, but I also don’t enjoy eating super spicy things “just because”. I want my food to actually taste good. Being able to eat spicy food lets me taste more flavor in hot peppers, but there’s zero point in eating really spicy stuff just to prove you can, imo.

My wife is on the ace spectrum. She enjoys sex, but only experiences reactive sexual desire (i.e. she’ll get in the mood once sex is basically already happening). Effectively she does not experience sexual desire in the way people typically mean that.
That’s been a struggle for us. We don’t do scheduled sex, but it’s something we’ve considered. Even though we have very good (if infrequent) sex, the frequency isn’t the thing that’s hard for me to deal with. The hardest thing is not feeling desired in ways I am used to in relationships. That has made me feel insecure and just overall is not great. But it’s something we’ve had to work through.
So all that goes to say: yes, if you find the right person you’ll be able to make it work. The key, in my opinion, is talking about it and being very clear about how you’re wired and that it isn’t anything wrong with them.

take your open chip bag
fold the top of the bag down about 2cm/1in. Do this 2 more times.
take the corners of the folded part and fold them toward the middle of the rolled part at an angle
the tricky part. We are going to invert the cuff we’ve made - like flip the folded part inside out. Push those corners in and flip the folded part over them.

It stops taking as much effort eventually. Then you can tune out the noise and think about stuff. Or it never does because everyone is different, I guess, but then you just do what you have to do.

That’s true. But finding inner quiet is an even more necessary skill in those situations. But, I’m autistic (only mildly), so I totally get if the stimulation is just too much. Though I went through a lot of discomfort to be okay in environments like that.

It’s good to enjoy quiet and not be constantly surrounding yourself with noise. It’s an important skill to be able to sit in silence and not rely on external stimulation to feel okay.
This is what I ended up doing, and it works great. I knew about aliases, but didn’t really use them at all - I didn’t know about bash functions though.
So now I have a few functions in .bashrc for short things and am just aliasing shell scripts for easy access to more complex tbings I don’t want cluttering the file
