When we handed control of tech over from nerds to money-men.

Well aren’t you just a barrel of laughs :)

My default answer to that is ‘As little as possible.’

Not as difficult as the alternatives.

The world should at the very least be imposing economic sanctions on the US.

Refer to the second sentence above. But I guess, with a bet, there’s money involved. Hope doesn’t specifically require that.

That’s more of a bet, which is the other word I keep seeing used about a.i.'s financial prospects. More or less the same thing though, so yeah.

They hope that’s what they’ll become. Spoiler: they won’t. You amplify your cognition by using it, not relegating it to a dumb computer.

“We need to get beyond the arguments of slop vs sophistication,” Nadella laments, emphasizing hopes that society will become more accepting of AI, or what Nadella describes as “cognitive amplifier tools.” “…and develop a new equilibrium in terms of our “theory of the mind” that accounts for humans being equipped with these new cognitive amplifier tools as we relate to each other.”
There’s that word ‘hope’ again. It seems to be the main driving force behind a.i. implementation.
Also, I think “cognitive real-time amplifier product” makes for a better acronym.

There a good reason for that.

I can’t believe it took me until this year to find that.
I just wish the people that scan books with OCR would actuality read through the result and check for errors. A couple I’ve read lately are absolutely riddled with them.

Great album. Old Man On The Back Porch is my favourite on that one.

Yeah, I guess analysis videos are a different animal, and not really what the OP is talking about. I too avoid those.

That’s fair. I don’t watch streamers as a rule, but let’s plays can be enjoyable. I’ll watch them if the commentators are funny, or if it’s a game I’m interested in knowing about but not interested enough to play through myself, or if it’s on a platform I don’t have, The Metal Gear Solid series for example.

As a counterpoint, I like watching The Charismatic Voice - a trained opera singer reacting to pop and rock music vocalists, often the first time hearing them, and offering a great analysis of their vocal techniques. That’s a reaction video done right.
As an example, watching her react to John Farnham’s performance of ‘Help’ reduces me to tears.

The group has a mixed record with its annual predictions.
You don’t say?
Dance Jimmy!
That song was part of my ukulele busking set back in the day, and I still play it for myself now and then. Weirdly, that’s the only Ween album I’ve ever really gotten into. l also play Cold Blows The Wind and The Blarney Stone from that album. It’s such a good album.
I always thought it referred to being drunk. Sauce being a euphemism for alcohol.

Seems like as good a reason as any to do it.
Worth it.
