I get things like “enlightenment”, etc. But the average person (at least in the US) that isn’t already Catholic has a strong possibility of already being told they aren’t real Christians, and isn’t going to know or care about etymology, and will assume it’s Lucifer. They could call the main character Satin after the cloth and it’s have the same effect, even though they aren’t related.
It’s simple word association. I’m aware of the Latin translations. I’m also aware that most people are not going to think about it too long, and immediately going to jump to conclusions. They also believe in Bigfoot. What end of the Bell curve are we talking about, here?

Even without that, drawing attention to Light seems weird. Could’ve been “Peace”, “Faith”, or “Love” or whatever.

Nevermind the connections to Death Note, a far more popular anime about Light Yagami, and the subtle connections between his name and Lucifer the Lightbringer.
This seems so much worse on it’s face, even if you leave out the undertones of children’s abuse by the church and Rule 34 that will come out (which are worse, but the church keeps trying to bury it)
Those old tv shows where they casually eat breakfast before work make more sense. They weren’t up at 6, rushing to get to work by 8. They had a whole hour more.
That’s actually happening, and isn’t an effect. They’re using analogue recorders because that’s good/cheap enough to blow up after one use. There’s a bit of a delay to process and transmit the signal, so it cuts out during the last bit of processing before it even registers the hit.
Which does make piloting it a bit tricky, too. And if you’ve ever flown any type of drone, you probably noticed it’s faster than your reaction time, which makes these skilled attacks even more impressive to me. But I guess they also have a lot of practice, by now!
Yep, that’s exactly what it did. Maybe there was a way to do it, say if you had a VPN, but people picked up pretty quick to ban a single IP.
A lot of the actual, serious ones that knew what they were doing got caught. Some went to lulsec to be jerks with no agenda and were caught by the Feds. All that was left were script kiddies that downloaded the Low Orbit Ion Cannon and used scripts they find online. Then they left or were overtaken by alt right idiots.
The original Anonymous are in their 30s and 40s by now. Everyone ages out.

Try using a non-alcohol-based lotion. If you can’t find one, I’ve had good success with Eucerin. I put lotion on my face and scalp right after my shower, and don’t have any itchiness or flakes.
I couldn’t find a shampoo that fixed anything for me.
If you have it on your elbows or knees (very common), you can try Aquaphor at night. That is pretty sticky, but keeps your skin calm and moist.
A dermatologist can give you some prescription lotion/cream, as well. That also works, but it’s typically a small tube and expensive.
This could be a case of them cutting multiple covers at once.
I had the same problem with jeans. I order the exact same style and size, but they don’t all fit the same. When I spoke to a Levi customer service person, they said they have multiple layers of fabric piled on top. Then the cutting blade presses down, and the fabric bends. As the top one is to short on measurements, the bottom most one is to long. So you want one in the middle.
I know paper isn’t fabric, but it could be something similar. It’s speed and efficiency over accuracy.
They did pay into the federal system more than they took at one time, but it hasn’t been like that for a long time now. They couldn’t handle having federal funding cut off.
The Catholic Church thought they could pour their brand of religion into the entire continent for hundreds of years, gaining loyal support and broadening their power. Looks like they just found out they exported the bigotry, but couldn’t force loyalty when they change the message.
This is the danger we keep seeing when people use a religion as a power vehicle, and wrap it in “fear of the other”. Doesn’t matter if it’s Catholicism or something else. We’ll continue to repeat history over and over because clearly it’ll work THIS time and that leader will be able to control it.
It’s two fold:
it’s good proof of “user interaction with site” to sell to advertisers
they can use that to load more ads or refresh current ones after it loads more text, and you’re already bought in on the story so you’re likely going to keep going.
I suspect a third reason is to try adding other news stories at the end in case the current one didn’t grab your attention, but that doesn’t seem to be as consistent amongst sites that I’ve seen do this. I run ad blockers though, so I don’t really see the sites the way they expect me to.
No one wants to die at 75 - that’s a single decade (in old age, mind you, with limited options) to enjoy retirement. IF you managed to retire. There’s a lot of older people now that I work with that simply can’t retire, because they can’t afford it. That’s only going to get worse as we grow old and need to retire.
We can’t enact Logan’s Run at 75 and assume it’ll fix anything. We’ll all work till we drop, which I don’t want for my children. Hell, my parents don’t want that for me now!
