Its difficult personally to believe its a myth due to my memory of the Twitter buyout where I recall the main struggle being that the CEOs of Twitter couldn’t deny Elon purchasing Twitter due to the threat of lawsuit from their shareholders, and after announcing his plans to purchase Twitter for the inflated price Elon couldn’t back out due to the same threat however I am open to the idea that I could of been misled on that situation.
As for the why of a myth like that circulating I doubt its due to malice and more due to misunderstanding as Ive always understood that any wording made on a legal case could be used as precedent. It could also fit well with people rationalizing why companies seek record profits while underpaying workers for their labor.
If anyone could clarify the Twitter situation without sucking off elon it would be appreciated
I swear Reddit is not only not learning from history but purposely trying to repeat it again thinking oh the previous guys were just too weak…
There is a mention of the tracker though and the tracker has a link to lemmy :D it’ll get anyone who’s interested in how many sites are down (its not perfect but its something)
I think they’re seriously underestimating the work mods did in the bigger subs
This is extremely short-sighted on reddits part, elevating lower mods to leads can cause so much drama in a community particularly when the lower mods don’t have experience, the lower mods will probably make basic mistakes that’ll turn the average base away from the subreddit.
this is really going to bite reddit in the ass if they try it more its like trying to fix a leak by sticking random objects in the hole
Ill miss RIF, im curious if RIF had a different algorithm or something cause from what im reading there was a lot of awful going on with reddit and I saw nearly none of it.
Its so weird that the alt right hasn’t tried to seize Lemmy yet from my experience it was always the immediate fate of Reddit alts in curious if the alt right is too busy over at truth social (or rumble) oh could we please get a youtube alt next that would be so great
I have to agree with you on that I saw a comment earlier about the people who left Reddit being a loud minority but something feels off about that
Lemmy’s community feels so familiar I sadly just can’t find the right words to describe it though
Trump.
