I passed a police car on the interstate a few weeks ago in Kentucky that had its windshield smashed out by snow/ice flying off the top of a semi. The amount of damage was impressive and scary.

My mom is what’s known as an ‘unreliable medical historian’… she very often hears something completely different from what her doctor tells her. I don’t want to say that she lies, because I think a ‘lie’ is a conscious choice that people make… but I also don’t think she’s incapable of understanding what her doctor tells her. I think she just has an idea of what the doctor is going to say, and when it is different she has a hard time letting go of her expectation and replacing it with reality.
I have no idea if this relates to your mother or situation in any way… but if I took everything my mom said her doctor told her then she is the most unique medical specimen ever. Her diabetes is unlike anyone else’s because she can still eat whatever she wants, when she wants… her doctor said that it’s not a problem. And her diabetes has changed from type 2 to type 1. As she was preparing for spine surgery she was convinced that she’d be back home, on her own in 2 weeks (it was closer to 9 months). She swears that the only surgeon that her primary care doctor wants her to see is 2 states over, 6 hours from any of her family (I’ve looked him up, he’s decent, but by no means a unique surgeon). And lots of other strange stuff over the years, including when I was a child.

I received an email from Ticketmaster when tickets for how local show went on sale, and I was just curious how well they were selling, so I logged in. There were still plenty left, but they were selling much better than I was expecting… but then I noticed the prices. $60 for lawn and $200-$500 for pavilion seating. But then I noticed the front 2 rows, $4k-$5k… and they were almost all sold out.
This has to be a money laundering scheme, right? No one is actually paying that to see Kid Rock, right?

It doesn’t have to be unhealthy. They do have salads and grilled chicken, and even grilled chicken salads. Of course, the healthy items are quite a bit more expensive than the unhealthy items ($3 for large fries vs $4.20 for kale salad).

It works in Europe too. It uses LoRa (A Long Range radio protocol) to be able to send messages out to other nodes, which can bounce them out to further nodes. A node can be configured to relay through the Internet to reach people in other areas.
I ordered the radio shown below from a kit on Amazon (it’s a Heltec v4 and came with a battery that isn’t pictured) and it took about 5 minutes to setup. Attaching the antenna to the board was the hardest part.

Great points, and there’s some amazing discussions going on here!
One thing I’d like to add is EVERYONE needs to start setting up some meshtastic nodes. It’s really easy to setup (just hook up a USB cable from your computer to a esp32 board, visit a website to get the configuration, and that’s pretty much it), it’s cheap (as little as $30) and it is secure. Build 2 nodes (one to leave at home, and another for your backpack). This way you’ll be able to communicate should the Internet become unavailable or unsafe. You can also use this at a protest so that you still have a means of communication without needing to bring your phone that the Feds will be able to track.

Hardee’s used to have a chilli cheeseburger that was amazing. It’s been close to 20 years and I still think of that burger.
But, the best was at Swenson’s outside of Cleveland at 1 am after a NIИ concert.

Fake it 'til you make it!

This is what I did… I tried to ‘just move on’ without blocking them, but they had commented several times in a thread I was trying to read and it was such a distraction, so I blocked them and only ever think of them when I see posts like this. It’s a shame too because the person I blocked did seem to have worthwhile comments, they were just too annoying to try to read.

The key findings show that reality requires non-algorithmic understanding that cannot be simulated computationally.
I propose that the researchers just don’t know how to create such an algorithm and therefore assume it isn’t possible.

But… that costs money.

The US isn’t part of the ICC and has veto power in the UN. The US is quite literally above the law and there isn’t anything anyone can really do about it.

I really enjoy his books, but the past couple of nonfiction books of his just feel like they are repeating themselves… and I haven’t read this one yet, but it looks like it is more of the same.
Don’t get me wrong, I think this is important information that everyone needs to hear… but I feel so disappointed after each one knowing that there really isn’t a solution to the problem. Each book just seems to be restating the issue.

Hitler was in his 40s when he became dictator. He had 12 years as ruler. I wonder if trump thinks that if he could get 12 years as dictator then it won’t matter if he has to shoot himself because he’ll be in his 90s.
The strategy here is start later in life… biology moves faster than the law or politics.

Good point.
I also want my smart glasses to shine an IR light on my face to help protect my identity from others recording me.

I would love a pair of smart glasses to augment what I’m seeing… Give me context, keep me informed, allow me to monitor things closely, yet passively, and let me do it all inconspicuously and unobtrusively! Even better if it has eye tracking navigation.
Oh, and make sure the hardware and software are open source and self-hosted. If it has all of that I’m in, 100%.

tempted to throw an old license plate on my bicycle
From the video it sounds like the cameras are looking for tail lights and a rectangle to determine if it is a license plate or not.

I’m not who you were replying to, and I’m by no means a beginner… but I just got the Framework Desktop with the AMD Strix Halo APU and I initially installed Fedora and could not get games to run through Steam. I eventually installed Nobara, and overall I don’t like it, but it played every game I tried without any fuss.

And, took out 2 invaders with 1 shot.
Because real Punk fans wouldn’t be able to accept that a show had been cancelled in protest. Although, at this point are any real punk fans going to be at this show?
