I actually just used it this weekend! On my airgapped Win XP machine. College vibes, very nostalgic.

Been on Mint for a bit over a year. Only slight annoyances. My tax guy couldn’t open the password protected .zip files I made. My printer has two trays, can only seem to print from the photo one. And getting the drivers installed for my TP-Link wifi adapter was a little bit of a pain. Other than that, everything has been great. It looks good, runs good, Games good. No issues with my NVidia card.

I need NX. If we could get that working, and if IT let me have Linux on my work PC, I would be so happy. My CAD station runs considerably worse on Win11, and the drivers for my favorite spaceball don’t work on it.

This would be fantastic for at work. I saw in another comment that it’s a one time fee commercial use license. That’s fantastic. How it with merging PDFs with different page sizes and orientations? I would use it for merging drawing packages together, and there’s a mix of like, A0, A1, and A3.

The nice thing about Mint is that there’s no hardware requirements for thigh-highs. You can just wear regular socks.

I love headphones. I have quite a few very good pairs. And headphone amps. And portable headphone amps. Ive been in the hobby for about 10 years now, maybe a bit more. My hearing is still excellent (according to hearing tests I’ve had). Aside from my tinnitus, which ive had since I was a kid. Just be mindful of the volume levels.

No, they aren’t talking about for an interview. They are talking about going in someplace in a suit and asking for a job. My mother insisted I did this when I got out of college. It only took a few receptionists looking at me like I’m crazy to be reaffirmed that this was a dumb idea. Even places that did have openings told me to apply online.

I don’t know the difference. I pretty much live in business casual, but on the weekends I will wear a graphic tee instead of a white undershirt. Maybe I leave my button down shirt open. It’s what I would choose to wear in any instance I leave the house. I’m comfortable in my clothes.

I woke up one day, and copilot had been installed on my PC overnight. I didn’t like that lack of control. This was, coincidentally, a weekend that my wife, kid, and dog were all gone. Since I knew Win10 only had a year left, and I had the time, I figured it was as good a time as any.

I downloaded Fedora and Kubuntu. Spent a bit of time with each, and went with Kubuntu. For a few days. It had issues waking from sleep, and I had to do some kind of tweaking with every one of my games to get them to work.

I don’t mind tinkering with stuff, but i just don’t have the time to make my computer my hobby. So, I switched to Mint. Everything just works. So, I put it on everything else. I guess the one time I really had to dig into terminal stuff was getting a wifi driver for my living room PC off git. Other than that, super easy.

Now, I’m coming up on a year of Mint. Couldn’t be happier.

You know what, that’s exactly what it was. The keyring wasn’t unlocking. Whatever i did last time was getting the apps individually to bypass the keyring or something, but fixing the keyring issue solved the problem and hopefully will prevent future problems. Thank you!!

Is it a Razer laptop?

Oh, thats really cool. I never had any pre-pentium stuff. I used an Apple ][ in school, and I remember playing Oregon Trail on 5.25 floppies, on a beautiful green monochrome monitor. But my first computer at home was a Pentium 133. It was a Compaq LTE 5300, with the docking bay, the CD drive, extra batteries, all the fixings. I loved that thing.

I wish I still had my old computers. I really miss my 98 machine with an 8mb 3D Rage Pro. I used that until 2005. Ive been buying some WinXP era stuff recently, since it seems to be in the sweet spot for buying right now. I got a pair of quad core Xeons for $10! Ive got 32gb of DDR2 for $35. The GTX 980ti wasn’t super cheap, but thats a card you maybe still could use today. This is going to be the bitchin’-est XP machine. Im excited.

Pandorum was fantastic. I need to watch it again.

Nah. It’s fine. I ended up taking an extra year to get my BSME. Nobody has ever once questioned that on my resume. Luckily, a few of my friends continued on to graduate studies, so I still knew a few people that last year.

For a long time, I thought it was Fedora Core 4. I did use that, but I recently found my old burned CDs of Mandrake 8.1. That really took me back. I might install it on a VM for some nostalgia.
