Prisoners still have the rights of the 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th amendments. They are many cases of prisoners successfully sueing for having those rights violated.
We shouldn’t act like they don’t exist simply because some of the powers that be want to pretend they don’t
It’s wrong. Incarceration doesn’t mean you lose your citizenship and citizens of the US are still entitled to basic rights such as speech. Prisoners supposedly have rights that protect them from the state.
We should all be more upset about this
Personally I dont see the difference. (I do see the difference between probation and supervised release now). It essentially claims a prisoner (incarcerated or on supervised release) has no freedom of speech.
How is that not punishment for speech? If this is the new standard you could send ppl on probation back to prison for anything the court deams negative
Cruelty. That’s the point
Such a badass quote. I salute the ppl of Kenya
Why? If there’s one thing coporate media always does its whore itself out for ratings by any means necessary.
The problem is this is going to keep happening every election and if the status quo is all Democrats have to offer apathy is going to set in sooner rather than later. Hell it already did with Hilary yet the DNC have learned nothing.
Democrats are rarely unified since it’s just a party made up of anyone who isn’t Republican. Green, progressive, moderate, socialist, etc. There’s only so long they’ll tolerate being ignored or seeing no progress.
Voters don’t want perfection. They just want someone who seems to have their best interests in mind and unfortunately a lot of ppl don’t see that in Biden let alone most politicians.
I’m voting for Biden but I’m tired of my vote being against Republicans instead of for someone I actually believe.
I think that’s why ppl don’t like him and why this election will be closer than any of us like. A large number of us aren’t voting for Biden, we’re voting against Trump. Again. This isn’t how a party consistently wins elections.
Gather the dragon balls to wish him back!!
Here’s to you Toriyama from all of us 90s American otaku’s who you introduced to anime.
Israel is condemned for inadequate warnings about attacks and insufficient humanitarian support to Gaza. But if genocide were the aim, why drop warning leaflets or provide aid at all
Fuck this article
I mean I didn’t know much about the guys political philosophies outside of opposing Putin until i started seeing posts like this. Sounds to me we shouldn’t really be praising someone who uses the same talking points as the guy running for office who will destroy American democracy
I think the Senate sometimes, oftentimes, fears anything that could be seen as partisan.
I’ll never understand this. There is a clear divide in parties. There is no working across the isle anymore. You can’t negotiate with someone who denies reality.
Seems the NYT wanted a propaganda piece more than actual news.
So leftists are just suppose to omit they’re own political philosophies and fall in line because moderates are the majority?
Fickleness, purity testing, apathy, all play a part too, and those are completely within your control.
No thats the DNC’s fault. You don’t get to complain about voter turn out because ppl don’t want to vote for a war criminal or that they have no faith in a system that actively fucks them and their way of life
If a Jerry Springer guest was in Congress
We’re just suppose to be happy with voting against a facist instead of voting for someone who’s political philosophies match our own. The worst part is Dems don’t realize this is basically going to be every election from now on and if they don’t change their tune they’ll lose to voter apathy
Look im voting for Biden but I’m not giving anyone shit who abstains to vote in this election, especially Palestinian Americans. How do you explain to a guy who lost 42 relatives in a Gaza in a single day that they should vote for either candidate? Hell how do you convince Muslims to vote for either?
We’re in a sad state of affairs in that a major argument against a candidate is they’ll help commit less genocide than the other. We should all be a lot more embarrassed than what we currently are.
Maybe things will go back too when the internet was a less decentralized and more for a select few who were interested? Personally that’s when I enjoyed the internet the most. Were message boards reigned supreme and chatrooms were filled with 30 year men pretending to be women. Actually that last part hasn’t changed
