I’d like to suggest postimages(dot)org. I’ve been using that site since leaving reddit/imgur over the summer. They seem to be a good free service (although they do offer a premium tier) and according to their ‘about us’ section they’ve been operating for 20 years.
How is anybody supposed to keep up with so many forks?

lemmy.world is been long defederated with it (which means that you don’t see it) yet you continue to think this is a problem…
I’m on a backup account because instances running 0.19.1 aren’t federating properly so my main isn’t able to post. Not that it’s any of your business in the first place. Now take your bot spam instance, and your vote manipulating alts, and get lost.

Yep, Alien.top has over one million accounts alone and they’re all crossposting Reddit spam bot accounts.
More instances need to defederate from that spam instance. Because no matter how many people explain why the project isn’t actually helpful nor does it add real value to Lemmy the person behind it is utterly convinced he’s the smartest person in the fediverse and we all just need to learn to love his spam.

I’m suspicious of any tech writer that can’t get a feel for a platform in seven days, big ole scary/confusing federated servers or not, lemmy just isn’t nearly as confusing as some people want to make it out to be. Particularly if you’ve ever actually used reddit before. Frankly, after reading this article I’m not convinced he understands either platform in any meaningful way.
This makes distinguishing between nested comments much easier IMO. That’s been my biggest gripe with the default UI so major thanks to the dev!
This makes me feel pretty good about my decision to choose lemmy.world as my first instance. There is zero reason to believe Hexbear users will engage in good faith, in fact, the evidence presented in this statement clearly illustrates that they intend to troll and generally derail discussions. Preemptive defederation in this case is the prudent move. Keep up the good work, Admins.

Okay, this is going to significantly increase my Lemmy usage. Thank you so much to the dev(s)! Between having an “old.lemmy.world” now and Memmy (which does a great job of replicating Apollo) I’m able to almost perfectly duplicate how I liked to browse reddit. Now I’m just hoping someone develops a RES (LES) extension someday!

Well that’s disturbing to hear. I figured if they’ve been around that long they’d have worked out effective tools to combat that stuff. But I suppose that might be a naive assumption, it must be a constant issue for image hosting services.
