This speaks to a more general problem I’m having following this war: struggling to find actual factual reports from what’s happening.
Between Trump’s unhinged tweets and Hegseth’s bloodthirsty machismo, trying to get anything from the US is like talking to a bucket.

If you can do all that, a Minecraft server will be easy peasy to set up.

It’s 2030. The conscription age has been increased to 65, and the 50 year old cohort is now in the lotto for the monthly draft call-ups.
The Strait of Hormuz (called the Strait of Trump) is still contested, as is the Persian Gulf (now called the Persian Gulf of America). Kharg Island is a battered pile of rubble, but thousands of casualties a day, mostly from FPV drone strikes, fail to move the needle.
The backlash in the US is high but since the midterms and 2028 election were cancelled, dissent is starting to take a more [ Removed by Reddit ] approach.
A few centuries pass. It is 2236, and America is still bombing the Middle East. Mecha-Trump still doesn’t have full control over the Strait of Trump, which he blames is just a hoax perpetrated by Biden, and asserts that Total Victory has been achieved, while sending another 200k conscripts into Iran again.
I thought it would be a Fairphone with a Stallman-approved FSF app set.

In terms of diplomatic faux paux, this is certainly up there.

Considering nothing will be done about it, yeah.

Do people actually defend Stalin still?

In Soviet Russia, code programs you!

Crazy how nature do that

One week of war in the Middle East, of course.
If I ever got a lucky Amazon mistake where I order one 4 TB drive but a box of 16 comes in, I would set up a full *arr stack.
Probably won’t be that lucky though.

I’d you’ve got skulls on your patches, you might just be the baddies.

Nothing wrong with my instance, just wondering if I’m missing out on anything by not going with the latest and greatest.

Is it worth the effort to switch over from Lemmy?

They’re (US) gonna run out of Patriot missile reloads sooner than they think.
I haven’t heard much, but I’m also in a similar position as you are here in the US.
The media has the attention span of a guppy, so right now it’s all about Iran.

You’re just a Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor to me.

This is only true for the Americium based smoke detectors. The newer photoelectric cell fire detectors don’t decay like Americium detectors, and as long as you replace the battery it’ll be good for however long it’s internal components (capacitors and whatnot) will last.
Technology Connections has a good video about this subject:
Biweekly is another one. Two times a week, or once every two weeks (also called a fortnight)?
