Goddamn they live better than us in every way
I’m a human being, god damn it. My life has value.
Goddamn they live better than us in every way
It’s not simple. The only real way I have to know if it’s a problem is to react based on whether the jokes are funny or not.
Example: When my life is being literally ruined, I don’t joke about suicide, I joke about how much fun I’m having. When I get a loose eyelash stuck under my eyelid though it’s right to “Jesus fuck just kill me please”.
Again, we’re talking about one soldier who shot some men in the back, not an entire nation’s defense predicated on illegal methodology. Let’s try and keep our alarm in perspective; When we see the Looney Tunes & Close-up Magic Division using hijinks and misdirection at scale while masses of onlookers cheer the end of international rules-based norms, we will have cause for perturbation.
I am no soldier and I don’t study rules of engagement - so I won’t comment. If I ever found myself in his shoes, I would count myself lucky for a chance to survive by any means whatsoever.
All that is beside the point I was driving at with banjo over there. It might be true, but it wouldn’t have been productive to point out that all warfare is deception, for example.
Neither does the fact that both sides have been using cluster bombs since the onset of the war, but nobody’s talking about it anymore.
I wish we could return to the age of limited warfare. Small armies, pitched battles, limited engagements. But it’s hard to put the genie back in the bottle, isn’t it?
So basically you might have done the same in his shoes, but it feels crappy to see everyone cheering at snuff films? That I would agree with.
What would you have done in his situation?
I agree with the basic idea that there ought to be rules of engagement, but you might be setting an unreasonably high standard. You know what happens to POWs in Russia. He was alone and outnumbered. At worst I would suppose he deserves a mild reprimand.
Absolutely. Stress kills.
…I should see a GP…
Shit, I should try that. Good for him though, goddamn
I remember this photo. I remember thinking “damn, they ruined his life”. How did he bounce back like this?
It doesn’t prevent any changes to the content, but that’s what pen is for.
Easier to have a cryptic rule, such as “third sentence in every entry must have exactly three words, and the last word in the entry must rhyme with the very first word.” That would validate the entry with far less work, and people would need massive sample sizes to have any chance at finding the pattern.
All that junk code, what could go?
Man, could you imagine if Russia cared about its soldiers? Shit would be hardcore.
Pretty sure that’s wrong
I was being glib - you’re horrifically spot on - but my point stands; who would willingly become a combatant in that?
Who would go to war willingly against what are basically, sentient flying artillery shells?
I’ve seen enough footage of it to know I can’t ever willingly be in a war ever. War has always been hell, but it’s never been more hellish.
Just outrageous how Ukraine has basically changed the entire world in self defense. Every military is watching them innovate and trying to catch up.
Next? I would love to see the same ones hit hard enough that they’re for sure completely knocked out.
