  • The impact on the Bhotiya tribes and other borderlanders was profound, characterized by a complete transformation of their traditional way of life The Bhotiyas were traditionally trans-Himalayan traders who exchanged salt, wool, and local merchandise between India and Tibet. They lived in between India and tibet(china border) .The 1962 war resulted in the immediate sealing of the Indo-Tibetan border, effectively destroying this, their main economic activity. Displacement and Relocation: Following the 1962 war, many Bhotiya communities were forced to abandon their high-altitude homes, known as “Maits,” and were shifted down to lower altitude regions, such as from the border village of Jadhang to Bagori/Dunda in Uttarakhand . These houses were all crap and bhotiyas suffered access to many resources Loss of Cultural Identity: The separation from their ancestral homes disrupted the community’s traditional social structure and cultural practices linked to the nomadic pastoralist lifestyle. Sepration of family:- many tribes living in between himalayan borders intermarried , but 1962 and 1967 war caused sepration of families along border lines
