This is kind of the actual problem though. It’s hard to actually have effective charities. Even some of the most ethical, and well run charities, end up with surplus funds (Dolly Parton’s charity for example). The government is setup to spend that much money helping people though. But paying taxes is somehow bad and wrong. I don’t know if I had a real point other than maybe we should actually tax these rich folks so they can achieve their dream of giving away at least half their wealth.
Great content! Your posts are always <pick 2: neat, informative, or creative>!
Anyone who just read the headline needs to actually go read the article. It’s not very long. Not that the headline is misleading, he absolutely said those things, but the whole thing is just the most deranged rant. Cain somehow got from being mad about changing the slogan to “truth, justice, and a better tomorrow” to immigrants want to make America into Somalia in two moves.

This… this one?
Just curious but have you looked into that story on the Aurora apartment complex past the reactionary headlines you’re cherry picking? It’s way more nuanced and has little to do with gangs. I kind of find it funny that you decided to backtrack with a different article because you didn’t even read the first one you posted.
As for some nypost gibberish, I don’t care to read it. It’s obvious you’re a reactionary and have an agenda. The “immigrant problem” is a racist nationalistic bullhorn, and I suspect you fall into that crowd. Unless of course you support returning the US to the people that aren’t immigrant ancestors? Perhaps we could find some common ground there.
I’m not sure what you’re getting at. That article says in multiple places, and even implies it with the scare quotes in the title, that they didn’t find a bunch of gang members in that complex. So what exactly are you trying to say?
Here’s a few quotes from that article:
Aurora Police Department Interim Chief Heather Morris said in a statement on Friday that “gang members have not taken over” the complex.
“I’m not saying that there aren’t gang members that don’t live in this community,” Morris said. “But what we’re learning out here is that gang members have not taken over this complex.”
…
Morris stated that the local authorities have “really made an effort” in recent days to ask specific questions about gang activity in the area and at the complex.
“Making sure that people aren’t paying rent to gang leaders or gang members,” she said.
According to Morris, the residents they’ve spoken with have assured them that this isn’t happening, and she believes they are being honest.
“We’re standing out here, and I can tell you that gang members have not taken over this complex.”
In almost every case in fictional writing it’s better to make up a poison then use a real one. That way you don’t have someone picking it apart later. Also you can give it whatever properties you want/need. Now excuse me while I continue to work on my immunity to iocane powder.
You mean Encounter at Farpoint? Or is that just some reference I’m missing. I’m not gonna rule out starting a war over Encounter at Farpoint at some point in the furture though, if for no other reason than the sheer irony.

I’m not entirely convinced that Highlander 2 wasn’t written on the back of the same straw wrapper they used to write Gremlins 2.
I have no idea the answer to your question, but I now know like 99% of people on lemmy have shitty reading comprehension.
Why would you need to defend yourself for ordering a pizza and being shocked by the high price? Sometimes I think I’ve gotten too old for the internet. People should be allowed to order a pizza every once in a while and not have to formulate a 5 point list of the reasons why it’s okay for them to order pizza.
Look I’m not saying you’re wrong or anything just that I really don’t appreciate you stalking me.

Is this theory what you’re referring to? Just curious because it always seemed interesting to me but I’m not educated enough to even know how to approach the subject beyond going, “huh neat.”
Feel your pain. Did the same thing for about a decade and it wasn’t awesome. At the end of it I felt like all I did was commute, work, commute, and repeat the next day. Barely saw my family. Hope it gets better for you though!
At least it’s an affordable shithole!
Like basically every school in the US has a dress code already. Don’t get this twisted into something else, this is purely performative nonsense by some backwoods inbred redneck.
Look some people keep sourdough starter for generations. Just because they don’t necessarily make sourdough for 37 years with it is no reason to shame people for their hobbies. /s
Fun fact there’s an ancient sourdough yeast that is thought to be several thousands of years old. It’s not a virgin though and gets around quite a lot!
