Does the game have kenal level anticheat? Because if it does, it doesn’t matter what distro you choose, it’s the anti-cheat blocking the game from starting.

Some countries allow it. The major difference is that other people cannot choose for you. Your family can’t “put you down” but you can choose to have a doctor assist.
I’m guessing that a good chunk of that usage is coming from the TrueNAS VM.

Nice try, but not American.

I’m sorry you don’t like the common colloquial understanding of the term “Left” but that’s what it means to the common person who isn’t steeped in political theory. Hence why leftist on here have to constantly point out that “Liberal” doesn’t fit their definition of “Left”.

You have to keep explaining it because you guys keep trying to shift the definition around. The way everyone else has always understood it, “Left” was always short for “Left-wing” and is the umbrella term for everything on the left end of the political spectrum. “Liberal”, “Socialist”, “Communist”, etc, are all subsets of “Left”.

Just took a look at Torrentleech. It does seem more relaxed. Last one I was on restricted which versions your client had to be, but didn’t keep up with updates. Between that and their solution to new people not being able to gain upload credit being to purchase credits, I got tired of it and bailed.

I gave up on private trackers a while ago. Nothing I’ve ever been looking for was obscure enough to warrant putting up with their bullshit rules.

Everyone is free to set their own priorities, but for me, I’ll just not purchase a thing at all, rather than buy it off Amazon. Most people buy too much crap they don’t actually need anyway.

The first thing I would do if I had a magic wand and could just change reality to see what happens, would be to get rid of Citizens United and whatever they called that decision that said money=speech. That’s the kind of thing that could actually happen without requiring wholesale societal change. Add in some strong campaign finance laws and maybe you could get some politicians who aren’t putting themselves up for auction to the highest bidder.

I’m definitely with you on that. I won’t buy any smart devices that require internet connections these days. And when looking to automate things, I’m much more likely to be buying a dumb device and a smart plug, rather than a smart device. That way I can still manually use the device if and when the automation side fails somewhere along the line.

I never understood why anyone would buy one in the first place. I like home automation where it makes sense (like having some of my bedroom lights and my coffee maker tied to my phone alarm in the morning) but why would anyone ever tie their fridge to the internet?

If what you currently have already works for you, why be concerned with the form factor of something designed for a slightly different use case?

When was the last time you used Linux? And what distro was it? Your complaints are a decade out of date.

Like other people have said, it’s going to depend on what you want to do with the NAS. If it’s going to be a pure NAS (ie network storage only), then using onboard will be fine. If you plan on doing other things (home assistant, media server, etc), I recommend going the virtual machine + HBA route.

I doubt that China would get directly involved on behalf of Russia. There’s really no profit for them in that scenario. If anything, I think they’d be far more likely to take the opportunity to attack Taiwan.

I used a hodge-podge of chinesium parts and leftover drives to create a DAS system that hooks up to an HBA via DAC. I’m actually kinda surprised how stable it’s all been.

I used to use Spotify, but then I learned that YouTube premium cost the same amount, and came with access to YouTube music, so I switched. Got tired of playing YouTube ad blocking whack-a-mole.
If Google starts enshittifying Premium too much, I’ll go back to sailing the high seas for stuff I’m not going to/can’t get on vinyl.

The only thing I can think of is that there was some sort of event where other people were being willingly set on fire. Like if were some sort of performance that went wrong, I could see there being a reasonable defense that the performer didn’t know she didn’t want to participate.
So from two seconds of Googling, it looks to be a proton issue, which zypper dup would do nothing to change. Proton versions are controlled from within steam.
