One of the major draws of discord is the fact that they host the servers for you, for free. Anyone can make an account, click a button, and have a discord server.
Afaik matrix does allow this (haven’t used it personally) but it’s something where I am a bit worried about hosting costs if it reaches a large scale. (Also unsure about how the matrix protocol works precisely, but if defederation is a thing which I feel like it has to be, I can see it leading to huge pains since discords use case is often about being part of a specific communitu, as opposed to twitter or reddit. Being unable to join a groip or see some messsges because of federation issues would be a major headache).
Maybe there’s some advantage even because for the ones I’ve used a lot i know at a glance which part of steam they’re in, which wouldn’t be as easy if the only difference was the text. And each part of steam is usually internally consistent, at least mostly.
Yea pretty much. I have no idea if going inside just to throw stuff away is considered ok (always felt a bit weird) but for the most part it’s not too bad to find a place to throw stuff away.
Which is entirely seperate from having a grasp on how much money it is you’re borrowing and how hard it will be to pay back
They don’t even have that, they just have seperate bins for cans and bottles and people use them, and the only public places to throw away trash are in convenience stores. Which tbf exist like every 400m.
There are exceptions but generally people just keep the city clean because they want to (and social pressure).
Bottle/can deposit system can do a lot to make bins less full though. Japan just doesn’t seem to need it.
What the fuck
I… actually don’t think I’ve ever met someone that smelled like literal shit. Some homeless people that smell like piss, sure, but that has other reasons.
I almost feel sorry for these people, surely this idea of not wiping has to come from somewhere and it’s not something they came up with.
They’re almost certainly volunteer fire fighters given that this is a rather small town, so there might not have been any present at the time.
They do, but HIV infections can take a while to turn up positive while already being transmittable.
I thought they did that at the start of the year
If you want to hate them more, there were cases of wikis moving off the site and fandom just deciding to restore the content after the maintainers deleted it, claiming everything written on the site is their property. Absolute shithole and I refuse to use it if there are alternatives.
Personally I just like my colleagues so it’s fun to be around them for the most part, and there are better lunch options around the office in my case (plus I’d never bother going somewhere when I’m home anyway). It being easier to just quickly ask a question is nice too. Also gets me actually out of the house and cycling for ~40 minutes a day. I also get way more done at work because working at the same pc I spend 90% of my free time at is not great at motivating my brain to do work.
Still, if I didn’t have the option to just stay home when I don’t feel like going to the office/am waiting for a package or something, I’d find that very annoying.
Shorting, crypto trading, options are all gambling. Long term investments are usually not.
One is hoping that the price will go a certain way in the short term. The other is giving a company money so they hopefully turn it into more money. that is the difference, nothing to do with casinos.
It’s an issue of political will, because it’s perfectly possible to keep cycling possible even in those conditions, but yea as long as that isn’t there you can’t always.
It should be a net benefit for society. Any system in which it isn’t is a very flawed system. Like most of the world right now.
Oh no, a typo from hitting a key right next to the intended key, this has never happened in the history of journalism!
I work in QA, my colleague is exactly this guy. Breaks everything without even trying. Doesn’t even have much of an IT background, but man he’s good at breaking things.
Also, online logins should lock you out temporarily after a few failed attempts anyway, making brute force a complete non issue.
Also also, if you’re going to try to brute force someones pw, you would just look up the requirements beforehand anyway.
Both glass and plastic bottles frequently get reused here in germany. Can’t say I’ve ever heard of someone having an unclean on. I don’t know where you heard that from but it’s clearly outdated or flat out bullshit.
It’s the result of weird ethical standards, which make the side effects justifiable for women since women experience all sorts of effects from periods that can in some cases get better with hormonal birth control. The fact that someone (many people I’m sure) might choose to deal with these side effects in exchange for their partner not having to, or just for additional safety, doesn’t factor in there.
I honestly think it’s rooted in the same beliefs that also make it hard to get any permanent body alterations done if not deemed “medically necessary”. Things like a vasectomy or HRT, both of which reportedly have tons of hoops to jump through to get them.
A lack of trust in people to be able to decide what to do with their own bodies.
