I find that if it’s too early/late or if you didn’t tell them what was expected, your results are suboptimal. Could just be your friends, though.

And it prevents “spur of the moment” decisions, like many successful suicides are.
It may prevent some, but at least some of the ones experiencing acute issues will still go for the immediate option. The bureaucracy of it will add a layer that I suspect will deter some. If it takes months or years, people are just going to find their own way.
I’m not suggesting that we just help any person right off the street. I think the government has duty of care once they are involved. I’m just saying the reality is that many will still choose not to take this alternative path.

Well, yes, but I don’t think most people want Biden to be president. Most people are voting for Biden because our election system is shit and he’s the only one likely to beat Trump. If we had ranked choice voting or approval voting (whatever it is called when you choose every candidate you support), we could vote how we want and get someone else we actually liked. Biden ain’t great, he’s just not a dictator wannabe. I don’t know of anyone voting for Biden because that’s who they want. I think a lot of us have the sense that Biden is only running because Trump needs to lose to potentially save us from a dictatorship.
But they are currently the ones most willing.
Too bad for us all. However, it’s not just the entertainment. People are miserable and scared. They want to blame someone for it. No one wants to blame themselves. So, who are you going to blame? That guy over there. Trump is not afraid to point fingers and he’s happy to tell people it’s not their fault, it’s the fault of specific other people AND that they are better than those other people. Just as ue blames everyone else and thinks he’s better than everyone else.
