I want a European Federation where these countries are either states and the federal government can tell them to fuck off or they never join and just be slaves of the yanks. Countries like Slovakia and a Hungary just want EU money but do nothing for it.

Neither and both. They both wanted their world view to dominate and did so by influencing a bunch of countries. The US fucked up all of South America during that time, Afghanistan, Iran, Vietnam, Korea, and probably a few countries in Africa. The Soviet Union wasn’t innocent in all of this fighting their proxy wars against the US.

Yes, education is a big factor in reduced birth rate, but I doubt it’s the biggest factor. If educated people lived in societies with good conditions for raising and bearing children, I imagine they would make the informed decision to get children.

How is life in China actually? There must be a reason people don’t want children. I imagine work culture, bad pay, bad prospects, and inability to secure housing are top among the reasons.

Those are relative explanations as in relative to the region. Compare it to Africa where the crime rate and murder rate is quite different despite there being active wars on the continent. Violence is of course present but not at the same level as in South America.

When I read stuff like this, my hope surges again that Russia is not far from a collapse, but they still hang on. It’s the only thing that impresses me about Russia.
