  • That’s the thing. On one hand I like not being bombarded by the shit opinions but on the other I like being informed at what the talking points are (to a degree) because I find that keeps me sharp against the opposition. When I read or hear about conservative viewpoints, I only think about how obtuse the logic is so it’s not something I worry at all about affecting my mindspace so this might not be a solution to everyone.

I’m still torn on the topic since it’s nice to not give a platform to obviously shit ideals since that’s how the misinformation spreads but I still wonder if there’s an even better protocol out there we haven’t been able to even comprehend yet.

  • Same experience with my printer! Gave me some motivation to finish off some of the projects I’ve disregarded since there’s some new shiny light to it. The printer has been going non-stop (while it’s not needing to be maintained) and I’ve made enclosures, costumes, frames, and molds that got me back into programming, crafting, painting, and masonry. Glad to have such split attention sometimes, lol.

  • I find it’s going to need to get even more convenient for the general public to be interested in it. Federation almost needs to be a ‘background’ process that the end user doesn’t really need to deal with. Otherwise, it’ll be a little too complicated or obscure to comprehend for most. I know it isn’t rocket science but we’re talking about the general public, here.

Eh, partially agreed but Adobe does have a stranglehold on the market due to proprietary encoding. The world still runs on their licensed filetypes and that’s a big hurdle for FOSS to overcome. A paradigm shift could happen but a lot is stacked up against it for now. Certainly not an issue that’s unable to be solved but we need some seriously clever minds dedicated to the problem.

  • Been working on a personal project to display my Spotify playing info onto a LED matrix display (with lots of visual goodies) and allow for physical buttons to control playback, lookup the artist on Wikipedia, open their bandcamp profile, and eventually to find what songs they do not have on Spotify.

It’s still in its infancy but it’s allowing me to work on blending software, hardware, and design all together in a fun, interactive way.

I don’t have a TV in my living room but listen to music 24/7 and my wife would like a way to see what weird shit we’re listening to.
