It feels like the hipster ironic daggy look never went away. There’s one young guy at work with a moustache that actually works on him. He’s look incredibly young without it

I do not regret driving today. Where we went and dealing with these kids I would be even more knackered if I towed them to the park and back

It’s not going to be crazy hot today but the sun just feels hot. I don’t know if it’s a bit humid or what. It feels like the sun packs a bunch today

Maybe it’s a ‘don’t eat that’ reminder for anyone that didn’t get the message the first time

I bought a Digimon tote bag for my girlfriend and holy shit I think this is the best tote bag I’ve ever seen. It has double layered canvas on the sides so they’re nice and thick, and a generous gusset in the middle. This thing can stand up on its own with a few things in there

My parents did it recently too. The whole way has a metal path so it’s an easy walk. Just wear a good hat that can stand up to some wind

Took the girlfriend to the Bluestone restaurant in Epping and it’s a nice spot. I was surprised by how much space is out the back.
You go out the back of the restaurant and there’s this outdoor area with a bunch of original farm houses and stuff. Because it’s a mismatch of old buildings and paths go off in whatever direction it feels like you’re in the starting area of Dark Souls: Australia.
There’s even a big hole in the middle of the place for that complete Dark Souls Hub feel.

I bought some Reject Shop wrapping paper and did it at work. Someone else could have done it nicer but it has turned out alright

My girlfriend and I did it one time. I don’t remember how much it cost though because hardly anyone came. It’s not like it was the Christmas period for wrapping presents

Hoping there’s a kiosk or something at the nearby shopping centre doing gift wrapping for valentines day for like a 1 dollar donation or something

It would be another instrument but bass ukeleles are really fun. Not the baritones that are just a bit bigger, proper bass ukeleles with the big rubbery strings. They’re easy to fret and sound nice.
And they pack a punch when plugged in since they have a built in pickup. Size doesn’t matter and you could fit in the mix live with the right gear

Everyone else seemed cool, and it’s hard to get a vibe of everyone when there’s like 65 people in a room spread across tables

I can change a team name if I feel it’s inappropriate, but that name is my type of humour. This person may have had a problem with some of the jokes I made as well, so I just wonder what they’re doing at trivia.
We’ll see what happens. A complaint was made so something needs to be done, but I feel the company isn’t being great in how they handle this with me either

I’ll spoiler this because I’m not sure how long it will take:
One team ended up using the name Quizlamic Jihad, which is a bit of a spicy name but it had been used in the past at another venue and no one seemed to mind. A woman asked me who that team was at the end of the night because it seemed like she didn’t like their choice of name.
That night when I got home I received an email from one of the main people in charge of trivia, and someone else I hadn’t heard of was CC’d in. He didn’t mention this guy was CC’d in or who he was. I did some linkedIn research and it was the head of events for the parent company.
They said they received some ‘feedback’ on the event and wanted further clarification on some details of the night. There were a couple of things they wanted me to write about like technical details and crowd reaction, which felt like hiding the true thing they wanted to ask about.
So after I responded to that email the reply was saying it was about the team name and whether I thought it was acceptable, quoting back sections of the code of conduct to me, and asking why I went with the name. He could have led with this instead of being broad and vague. I also haven’t received the formal training I’m supposed to yet so depending on what they say I might bring that up. I feel it’s a bit rich to recite the code of conduct back at me when you haven’t taken me through it like you promised.
Now I’m waiting to hear back and I don’t know what’s going on. Who knows? I might not be hosting pub trivia any more. I could have just gotten a more direct, ‘hey, we got some feedback about this tonight, don’t do it again.’
I worked a night with this guy and he was telling me how he’s always direct and blunt with people so I would have expected the same from him over email. Instead it feels like a cop emailing you instead of just saying what’s up. I misjudged the crowd that night, we could have just talked about it.

There was a complaint at trivia about one of the team names and whilst I admit I could have shown better judgement, I feel the trivia company could handle the day they’re talking to me about it better. Instead of being direct it feels like they’re trying to get me to entrap myself by asking about the night. I don’t appreciate that

Filled in for trivia at a Sporting Globe tonight. I feel like that chain just consumes failing Groove Trains and TGI Fridays but seems to have the sticking power to stay around despite being pretty much the same restaurant

I can understand why you’d be worried but you’ve been genuinely sick. They’ll understand if they’re a good place to work

Kiss from a rose is a normal song, but it’s so weird how it git included in the Batman Forever soundtrack. The music video is Seal walking around a rooftop in an open shirt with the bat signal behind it.
I need to do some reading if there’s anything out there about it, because why is it a batman song?

Well, I got the emails out today. In my mind that’s when a product is officially launched, even though there are way more people out there than just our mailing list. But product launches are a marathon, not a sprint. We use a financial year that finishes at the end of March so I really just have to do as much as I can until then.
Tinkering with the RockPi I got a little while ago. One of my soft new year resolutions is I want to actually do something with the computers I’ve picked up for some type of home networking thing, even if it’s just mounting them as network drives for storage
