Last night I chatted with my politically moderate neighbor, who is now considering leaving the country, and cheered Luigi, and a bunch of other shit that would have been “far left” a while ago, but I think is now permeating into the middle too.
Gay dude here, it seems to be. We have the loneliness epidemic here too, but we’re actually organizing and fighting it, because we’re used to do that. Our cishet counterparts are definitely not equipped to do that. Women are socalized much earlier than boys, and they’re taught that the social order is theirs for keeping. Girls are simply raised to be better at this. By the time men realize what’s happened with the natural funneling of friends through the parenting years - usually those late 20s and early 30s where it suddenly starts to become really difficult to overcome the friendship hump.
I can’t comment on the whole incels taking hold of this concept, because it’s something I’ve just had explained to me in the past week. I can definitely see the gender/sexuality lines on this in real life tho (I started and run a nonprofit to create community for GBT+ men in my state).

They’re not preloading your emails, just making it look like it, by preloading a few fields (from, subject). Providers have to pay for every byte they send, so they make damn sure they’re not sending a bunch of extraneous data, at scale, for millions of users.
Specifically for “old emails” in my mind, these are emails you’d have to dig for. The act of digging up the old emails will be much more data intensive than leaving them sit, which draws no power. Your old emails aren’t kept in RAM.

If you’re going to get nitpicky we could focus on how much heat the concrete retains vs plant life which can absorb and use the energy. All the people with concrete or rock yards around here are super hot, my dog and I have to run by in the summer. Paving vast surfaces is a poor alternative to landscaping. The soil underneath will dry and the animals, insects, microflora, etc will all be forced out and that part of the earth will just be dead.
But really it just looks dumb and Jackie planted some of those trees.

America doesn’t do free market capitalism it does late stage capitalism, where profits do in fact need to be record high every quarter, even if that means people are gonna die (like 10m people becoming uninsured, plus us borrowing a bunch of money from China, so we can give more to the billionaires that own us and don’t need it).
Last year on the 4th, I was walking home from the big fireworks show, and I saw a teenager on a scooter, who was briefly crouching down and not being safe. But he came up beside a lady and surprised her, and she swatted at him and tried to push him over, which would have crashed him into several people walking. More than just a startle response, and the kid stopped, looked back, angry - but he was a black teenager and there’s this white lady and her beefy white boyfriend/husband staring him back, so he turns and disappears back into the crowd.
And I’m instantly furious.
“That’s assault,” I told her.
“Mind your own fucking business” she says. Several other people are watching.
Thankfully my husband and her husband pulled us in different directions and the crowd separated us.
But I was so fucking angry, and that lady looked like she had started a fight or three in her life. Her boyfriend looked like he wasn’t happy to be there in that moment.
So yes, but it has to be something serious.
This is interesting. I’ve been setting up our non-profit’s new grant-funded Azure VM, then Wordpress site, then CiviCRM, then hardening it all, and I’m hoping to offer this as a (volunteer) turnkey service to a few other nonprofits in town. And it’s amazing to me how many hours this still takes, and how out of reach it is for the average nonprofit.
