Why does a governor have a podcast?

    I hate this fucking country.

corporate billionaire sellout politicians like Newsom ultimately don’t believe in anything, they just have some yesman PR they follow mindlessly.

unless they’re very complacent or confident their district is secure enough to not campaign at all, politicians have to go where the people are for messaging/staying relevant.

podcasting is bigger than mainstream media at this point, because of how blatantly manipulated and fake it has all been for decades. hell streaming is too fucking…asmongold, a random hoarder famous for being disgusting, has more regular viewers than Jimmy Kimmel.

at this point those 3-4 letter networks play to crowd composed almost entirely of dying boomer retirees, most of these people grew up before the internet proper…and have likely never known/seen anything but manufactured consent programming their entire lives unless they happened to see the light in college or their parents were proper progressives.

definitely don’t think a governor really needs to bother having a podcast, if anything that makes em seem even less relatable to the supposed market their PR thinks they’re reaching. “doing the circuit” on all various different podcasts would be much more effective in reaching out. hosting your podcast creates 1 bubble, doing the circuit reaches out to X bubbles.
