from someone outside california, sadly it looks like without any serious competition he can do/say pretty much whatever he wants and win just off a bit of posturing against trump.
maybe there’s some grassroots Mamdani level campaign in the works that can upset him though, idk
After the Mamdani campaign, I would be shocked if someone wasn’t at least contemplating it. It would take a very special person to do it though, as you have to be genuine as fuck and act on your ideals. Like Mamdani who went to all the places his constituents hang out. He, a heterosexual man went to a gay bar in the early morning hours and to talk to the men there, he treated them with respect in their own space. I would love to see something like this be replicated more…I have the charisma of a rotten lemon peel so it couldn’t be me. ROFL
the best grassroots really do come out of nowhere though, maybe there’s one in the works and I just don’t know it yet.
ideally you don’t want the mainstream catching onto the fact their position is threatened until the last minute. that’s when their overt (but now panicked) messaging comes off as desperate and unrelatable.
