Same for mine. It’s kind of why those dog walking warning posts irk me. My dog knows what he wants and I respect his agency. He didn’t want to go out on the 40+ days but he’s keen to under 35. I’ve also got a bunch of farmers in the family with kelpies who do no give a fuck.
I don’t even walk my dog when it’s summer. He follows me outside when I go to the letterbox, bins, clothes line. He does 360 laps around the house chasing birds and cats and flies and whatever else he wants to do several times a day.
When it’s cooler weather we do walks around the neighbourhood and the park in the mornings.
If my dog doesn’t want to go for the walk he refuses. I also let him decide where we walk, he gets to choose the directions. Otherwise he sleeps near me most of the time.
He doesn’t like to poo at home being the main reason.
My old kelpie/heeler mix was immune to temperature extremes too. Activity of any sort was preferable to inactivity, regardless of temperature. The double coat helped of course.
