I come from a land downunder, and many people are up in arms about everyone having to verify their age and/or id in order to watch (say) pron.

Given the collective desire for privacy and security, most are not willing to upload their personal details to a porn site (or a company affiliated with one) and are opting to subscribe to a VPN instead. Alternatively, they - ok, we - are looking for a browser add-on that automates (or falsifies) the process.

Does anyone know which countries do not require age verification or of apps et al that circumvent the process? I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before the latter is made available if it isn’t already.

thanks

The speed with which I saw this happening in so many countries tells me that we probably only have a few good years left until this is a world wide thing.

Same for VPN, I don’t see those last much longer either

I’d hope that too but this is the real world and it sucks. More and more, everything must be to apease those in charge, those with money and power and things like VPN gives us alternatives, so yeah… And yes, I’ve heard the first proposals to ban VPNs, to “protect the children or course” (fuck the children, nobody cares about the well being of children, it’s all money and power) and I’m sure those first bans fail, they will just try again next year and the year after etc. until they win.

They only need a single win and we can’t make a law to prohibit this shit behavior apparently

I’ve seen similar processes at work for encryption for the past 20 years or so. Every one or two years they try again, and again, at some point they’ll succeed just for sheer statistical probably

So enjoy while it lasts, I’m getting out of it what I can, while I can

Genuinely, when it comes to downloading porn from places where people don’t care about laws, you better be real familiar with the actors and their legal age in every last file, including and especially when performers are discovered to have lied about their age.

I think VPN with a safe exit point might be the cleanest advice to give.

The few reasons why I love Latin America is because is so damn late to everything that age verification will never be a thing here.

Exceeeeept for Brazil, they always are or too advanced to the others countries, or too late.

Canada is just beginning to talk about the media situation and teens, I don’t think anything is blocked yet by age verification.

march update ☞ Turkey’s ruling party submits bill to ban social media for under-15s https://www.reuters.com/technology/turkeys-ruling-party-submits-bill-ban-social-media-under-15s-2026-03-04/

With the bill, Turkey is following the example of Australia, several European countries and others which have adopted or are considering similar restrictions, amid mounting concerns over the impact of social media on children’s health and safety.

The Turkish bill would require social media providers to set up age‑verification systems and to offer parental control tools to ensure the safety of children in the digital world.

Ffs, it’s going to come down to somewhere really inconvenient to scroll to soon, isn’t it? Like Azerbaijan or Armenia
