What’s so insidious about this unforced error is now that the NBC execs have inadvertently stepped in dogshit, they’re left with two bad options:

    1. Kowtow to fascists by keeping her and letting her gaslight the country on their dime.

    2. Give her the boot and prove to fascists that they’re actively being persecuted by “leftwing” media.

There’s no way for them to save face at this point, and they’re complete fucking morons for not seeing this coming from a hundred million miles away.

this is the easiest mistake to rectify, pay her what her contract says they owe her, apologize, and move on, or, you know, reap the whilrwind of the talent, none of your shows will have on their air, being the news

They are saying nbc execs should reward her by paying her the full amount of her contract to go find another payday somewhere else.

That sounds like the easiest but absolutely worst option. I’d prefer that we not directly fund fascism.

Yea but that would have required NBC execs to not actively subvert any newsworthiness the network had in the first place. I’m starting to think there is a conscious effort to do the opposite, possibly just to legitimize payouts to fascists.

It’s really weird how frankly corporate-centrist news orgs keep getting purchased and then “both sided” by execs who inevitably saddle them with insane far right fascists under the false pretense of “balance”. Look at what happened with CNN… it’s not like CNN was some socialist rag, they just didn’t actively lie like Fox News. So apparently that meant they needed to be sold to new owners who want more Jan 6 level BS, “Biden Crime Family” BS etc. all in the name of “balance”. In the context of many stories like that, it’s hard to see what happened at NBC as an accident.

It’s almost like any idiot could look back at Jan 6, at Fox News and the Dominion lawsuit, and say “that’s definitely not the proper actions of a news org, but even still it’s clearly bad for the bottom line.”

Instead NBC execs looked at people smearing shit on the capitol and said “that’s a political viewpoint we are just not representing enough.” Or a small group said “fuck this liberal noise let’s give her her dues.”

For some reason they felt very compelled to bring on someone who may cause them to absorb the risk of a BS conspiracy theory that already cost another network billions in court fines.

NBC is placing its bet on the fall of democracy, and that is neither forgettable nor forgivable.

At the very least, Carrie Budoff Brown who’s extraordinary brainchild this was, needs to part ways with NBC when McDaniels is released.

The only folks still getting their information from network news, whatever network it is, know they’re tuning in to be spoonfed, and the majority will purposefully forget and forgive, and that’s why the networks are able to charge money for their ad time. If the masses truly found what they’ve been doing since, I dunno, the first gulf war unforgettable and unforgivable the industry would have corrected by now, but it’s only gotten ordinates worse with every single network chasing the FOX NEWS ratings

When those who have campaigned against Democracy itself, in favor of white supremacy and fascism, are given a unironic and prominent place as the face of one of the nations premiere “news” networks, it doesn’t say promising things about that nations democratic underpinnings or it’s future

That is short term thinking that seems like it is better, but just reinforces the behavior of shitty people to continue being shitty. It wouldn’t even be considered if we were a reasonable society that held shitty people accountable for being shitty.

Do they pay off middle class or lower people when they are shitty to “go away”?

At this point I’m starting to think that paying her off is the point. Everything else is collateral damage to things they don’t care about anyways. If you’re willing to hire this woman, stuff like “journalistic integrity” doesn’t matter to you. Plus you get to knock down your claims of “liberal bias” in the news, and friends of friends get a legal payout to pay them back for lying about the election and Biden.

Little bit of controversy, “liberal bias” takes a knock, storm then blows over and a total piece of shit just so happens to walk away paid off.

There are plenty of ways to get actual news that don’t involve the TV now. TV News is basically an outrage machine now, no matter which station you watch

They decided her fate when they hired her in the first place.

Her fate is to be paid a bunch of money for being a terrible person with just enough name recognition.
