Surely the lottery could tell him?
It’s part of the security test to make sure you are the actual owner of the ticket.
Where I live, there’s place on the lottery ticket for you to fill in your name, ID number, and phone number.
If you leave it blank and lost the ticket, then whoever posses the ticket have legal claim to the price.
Looks like they asked him as a method of identity verification.
