Yes! I like that they’re flexible and you can either squeeze water through quickly or just hang it up and let gravity do the work for you at camp.
This is a picture from the CNOC website (they make cool flexible water bags) so it mostly uses their products, but it has some good example setups. The 28mm thread size is also the same as Smart water bottles and Evernew water bladders.
A have a Sawyer Squeeze (full size, not a mini) that was just fine after not being used for over a year and not having any special thought put in before storage. I had to squeeze the first few bags through, but then it woke up and went back to gravity filtering.
I usually try to shake water out of it right after use.
I brought a previous one back from a complete blockage with a hot water and vinegar soak and flushing both directions.
A screen porch for the hammock is awesome!
Especially in bug heavy areas, more screened space is so nice. There are a few times I’ve camped with hammockers who brought and shared an extra dome tent to keep their stuff and change clothes.
My first aid kit always has some Aquatabs! They’re such a small thing to easily leave in there just in case. In that same vein, I have some pull apart fire starters about the size of earplugs in there as well.
Most of your warmth should come from a more insulated sleeping bag and pad. And/or doubling them up. Assume the tent is mostly just a wind break unless you’re going down the hot tent route with a stove or heater.
There are winter tents with less mesh (to keep blown snow out) and stronger flies and poles for snow and wind, but 3 season tents can do a lot if you don’t want to camp in a blizzard (I don’t).
Agreed, I’ve had some success using it essentially as a replacement for how I used to use Stackexchange, which is to remind me of a syntax or make a little function when I have to do some scripting once every few months, but I don’t trust it for anything more than the basics.
I brought up Northrop because I’m guessing they bid a Cygnus derived deorbit vehicle.
How is this a handout? They bid for a contract and won it vs competitors.
I’m hoping we get a source selection statement soon where they spell out why companies like Northrop and Blue didn’t win.
Eh. Mine freaks out and fails half the time I try to go full screen. And the frame rate seems like it gets awful randomly.
I’m moving and starting over with a lot of my computer / AV setup. I had Plex awhile ago but haven’t run a media server in at least a few years. Should I go with Jellyfin or Emby? Or something else? I guess the main limitation is streaming to a smart TV.
They were already trying to ruin it with Tidal exclusive albums
I switched to AntennaPod for podcasts because of this. It’s also just a better experience - it auto downloads new episodes and deletes them after playing.
You can still get free Amazon shipping without Prime, and they generally beat the week or so that they say they’ll do for me.
I haven’t had Prime for years but still shop on Amazon a bit. You get free shipping on orders over… $25 or $35? So group a few non urgent things and you’re good to go. I pay for quicker shipping maybe once or twice a year, and pay for shipping in other sites maybe a half dozen times a year.
Does your TV have a USB port? You might literally be able to just download files to an external drive and go plug that into your TV.
I think the reddit streams pages (RIP /r/nbastreams, /r/soccerstreams, etc) were the peak of stream accessibility and quality for me. I have some go-to sites now, but those subreddits were so convenient and easy.
A Pi-hole is easy to set up if you already have a Raspberry Pi and a router that supports changing the DNS (I had one that was rented from an ISP that didn’t).
