This is the moment that Donald Trump threatens an ABC reporter after they asked about free speech. Speaking with ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent Jonathan Karl on Tuesday (16 September), the president appeared to become annoyed after the reporter asked him about Pam Bondi’s crackdown on “hate speech”. “A lot of your allies say hate speech is free speech,” Mr Karl said, to which Mr Trump responded: “She’d probably go after people like you because you treat me so unfairly. It’s hate. You have a lot of hate in your heart.” After slamming ABC, the president claimed that he “wants everything to be fair” and placed blame with the “radical left who have done tremendous damage to the country”.
The USA is distracted with treats. It’s economy is the imperial core of the planet. That fact affords Trump some time before the masses realize what’s going on.
Remember that the Nazis made the economy temporarily better for the in-group. They actually allowed socialist benefits for the German workforce before clamping down on that during WWII.
Trump isn’t making the economy better for anyone though. He’s screwing everyone over, and channeling that hate towards anything else but him and his base.
Just as we’ve seen with Charlie Kirk’s murder and Candace Owen’s conspiracy theory to blame it all on Israel, the Right can fracture very easily. I don’t think this Admin will make it to the height of the Nazis. Their own incompetence and marriage to the rich will sew the seeds of their demise. Of course, anti-fascists throwing wrenches in things doesn’t hurt either.
This is what I keep expecting, but there has been minimal pushback on all the horrible economic policies and somehow the economy is mostly shrugging it off.
To be fair, we’re not really sure what the economy is doing because Trump rejects any reports from his Admin that show the economy in a bad light.
We’re back to COVID level unemployment, iirc.
Edit: we also haven’t seen the full extent of the impact that deportation of undocumented immigrants will have on the economy.
