I’m would imagine that having all the generals and admirals in one place where they can talk directly to each other, and pissing them off with the reason you committed such an egregious breach of opsec isn’t the best move he could have made. I’m pretty sure that our military leaders just got all the opportunity they needed to completely undermine the administration at every turn.
