Oh OK so LNG from Russia is a very minor market that just happened to increase.
The whole reason Europe is using way more LNG than before, where EU had thie supplies from Russian pipelines, is exactly to NOT buy from Russia.

It did not just happen. The last winter happened to be cold and most gas is used for heating. So more LNG was needed to fill up storage. Some of that came from Russia, but most from the US.

The good news is that the 19th sanctions package includes an LNG ban. So this is going to end in a bit over a year.

What Europe has accomplished in getting off Russian gas is nothing short of hurculean. It was never going to be a quick task or perfectly executed. There was always going to be hiccups. I personally thought it would be impossible without destroying the economies of the EU. Personally I’m very impressed how quickly they pulled it off despite the hiccups and stragglers.

Oh common, EU made a tremendous effort to switch away from Russian gas delivered by pipelines, and had to make huge investments to be able to use LNG instead. And even limited imports before the replacements were operational at no small cost to European industries. And LNG terminals were built in record time.
EU has cut use of Russian gas to a tenth of what it was prior to the war!
          Stop the bullshit idiot!
EU countries are the biggest supporters of Ukraine, and instrumental for the current success Ukraine has against Russia, supporting investments in Ukrainian weapons industries, together with humanitarian support, and support for the civilian/infra structuere functioning of Ukraine.
Every aspect of Ukrainian society is supported by EU countries, and EU countries are the biggest supporters of the Ukrainian defense/war effort too.
And EU has also been the leading force in sanctioning of Russia, to the point that EU has influenced India and China too, to observe EU price restrictions on Russian oil.
No other region has done more than EU and EU countries to help Ukraine!

            And fuck you too.

I would prefer not seeing this kind of phrasing here. It looks like hanrahan had misunderstood something, was writing in good faith, and is very much of the same opinions as you are.

Of course “Fuck Eurpeans” was not the most tactful phrasing either, but it’s still not directly directed towards an individual person, unlike “fuck you”. (And of course: If there’s an actual pro-Russian monster in the conversation, feel free to use bad words of them!)

Of course all in all, it’s good to see two people who both are as very vehemently on Ukraine’s side as both of youse seem to be!

I removed it, but considering he wrote fuck Europeans I felt I was entitled to respond similarly, for all the reasons I stated in my response.

                Entirely human :)

It’s just good to keep the level of conversation excellent instead of just good. It’s in the interests of Ukraine!

Which is why I find it very strange with the anti EU sentiment often seen here, considering EU and EU member states provide by far the biggest support for Ukraine.
I really do consider those people idiots.
EU has very wide sanctions on Russia more than any country in the world (Apart from Ukraine of course), while China, India and USA has had next to no sanctions with USA only introducing new sanctions on Russia last week.
I completely agree in supporting Ukraine, and I also disagree on blaming the countries that help the most, usually based on ignorance.
