    so if tau ceti is 13 light years away , it takes HM 4 years to get there and only just over 2 years for the beatles to get back, it’s still 13 years Earth time for the HM and 13 for the beatles , regardless of how fast they go, because each is measuring time and distance differently and velocity is not additive

      Yep. That seems right. Everyone has their own rulers and clocks. It’s all consistent within the observers frame. The paradox only happens when you try to reconcile between the two.

      I studied relativity - it was my favourite (general relativity even more!)

          Yeah it’s wild! We didn’t study it until 3rd year uni and we all had these exact conversations! It’s mind-blowing but fun when you realise you grasp a little piece
