Don’t talk shit then I guess
If I didn’t want to get hit by missiles I would simply not join in the war of aggression
I am from the UK, and I am firmly siding with Iran as far as this war goes, despite the fact that their regime is brutal and oppressive. They had been complying with the nuclear deal signed under Obama’s admin until Trump tore it up and have obviously been demonstrating remarkable restraint in the face of overwhelming aggression from US/Israeli imperialism for decades, and they had chosen diplomacy, time and time again, despite the US fucking them over, time and time again.
I hope they absolutely fucking CRUSH the entire fossil fuel industry, I hope oil prices hit $1,000 a barrel, I hope the entire US Imperial core and all countries aligned with them are brought to the fucking brink, I hope that this is the beginning of the end of the United States, Israel and the United Kingdom, sparks a series of regime change revolutions, and the beginning of a new, brighter future.
Fuck the Tories, fuck Labour. Fuck the Republicans, fuck the Democrats. They are all servants of the ruling class and the whole lot of them can swing as far as I care. The only hope for all of us is a social revolution. And I guess the Green Party in the UK, provide a little hope. But I doubt even they will be socialist enough.
despite the fact that their regime is brutal and oppressive
True of nearly all countries. For example in many Western countries you can be arrested, prosecuted, fined, jailed and lose your job for supporting Palestine or saying “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”. You may be living in such a country.
You are totally right about that. I believe in the abolition of all nations, all borders, all states, and all heirarchies of all kinds. Power corrupts, and thus power itself must be destroyed.
I think your stance on the war is a reasonable one, but
despite the fact that their regime is brutal and oppressive
How did you come to this understanding regarding iran?
I don’t see how that would be a productive conversation to have right now - everyone knows what I’m talking about, and getting into the details would just distract from the fact that there are far more brutal, far more oppressive regimes doing far worse things, such as Israel and the United States. Once the Iran war has settled, I’d be more than happy to get into it, but for the time being, I am just going to lend them my critical support.
I think our perception of a country plays a huge role in whether confrontation happens or not, so some attention is not undeserved. I only asked because you chose to describe the country in this way, even though it was the party you were defending. So what was the purpose of it? Are you afraid to be associated with the iranian state outside of this very specific context of conflict?
I think our perception of a country plays a huge role in whether confrontation happens or not
To an extent, but our perception of a country is heavily influenced by western propaganda, and I do not want to push any of their talking points.
So what was the purpose of it?
Building consensus. The majority of users on this platform have been consuming western propaganda all of their lives, and are extremely hostile to perspectives which they see as oppositional. By framing my argument in that way, those people have a higher chance of perceiving me as being “on their team”, and thus giving my argument the benefit of the doubt, rather than short-circuiting their brains into discarding my actual argument as enemy propaganda.
Do you feel uncomfortable being associated with the iranian state outside of this very specific context of conflict?
Broadly, yes, I feel uncomfortable being associated with any state, they generally all have their histories of atrocities and oppression, though some are worse than others. I’m a disabled gay anarchist. I’m sure you can figure out my reasons for feeling the way I do.
From Iranians
I understand The Telegraph’s uhh narrative-forming objectives but is this enough to get the mini Tommy Robinsons of the UK to support war in Iran? I feel like even those racist crayon-eaters understand an Iranian strike on the British Isles is extremely unlikely, to say the least.
