Gonna go op-shopping for some house clothes (tired of spilling pasta sauce on good clothing). If I am lucky I might even get them cheaper than buying brand new from Kmart.

Be extra vigorous with the inspection and testing of zips in any clothing from the opshop. I shop there extensively and have found the number one reason a nice jacket is donated is because the zip is faulty or outright broken.

My mother refuses to even entertain the idea of fixing my zips and she says it an absolute pain and not worth the trouble. She is a seasoned sewer too so I’m going to continue to take her word for it.

I guess if the item is valuable enough and of high quality it may be worth taking to a professional and paying the premium.

I’m not sure if prices have changed but there are some fairly affordable repair services if you found something quite good.

Not even a tailor, just basic stuff like shortening pants and replacing zips. There used to be one in Melbourne Central.

In my town the professional tailor has a monopoly. I would have to find a hobbyist or small home shop.
