The girlfriend is into anime figures so I get some emails from some pop culture places. One thing I don’t understand is who would get like a 60cm tall figure for a couple of grand? Like, where would you put it? And who is looking at it?

I could get some type of business in a public setting like a cafe or whatever, but it’s not like there are a bunch of pop culture focused places around. They’re just so expensive and take up so much space.

I’ve seen anime fans put their expensive figurines in glass cases. It’s like any collection: coins, Funko, labubu, beanie babies, stamps, Pokemon (cards, games), etc. they show it off to other people in their niche community. People like to collect things 🤷🏼‍♀️

      Edit:

Anime fans I almost understand more. There’s much more of a market for smaller figures you can display like this. Japan produces a lot more smaller and cheaper figures. I’m talking about like a massive bust or statue of Batman that would either be wider than one of these cabinets or take up at least two squares.

It’s always the western properties that have these ridiculous statues as well. You can get anime statues for less than $100, but it feels like you’re spending at least half a grand on some hyperdetailed DC/Marvel figure and costs just jump from there.
