Mentally exhausted with a black veil of hopelessness resting on my heart.

    depression

That clanker didn’t call yesterday, so I’m relieved I don’t have to talk to it.

I’m not expecting everything I want to be handed to me, nor did I expect it to be easy. But it does still hurt, and has me feeling so low as to question whether I’ve made a mistake pursuing this at all. Maybe I’m too old now and I should have just stuck it out in CC. Maybe that’s all anyone will give me a chance to do, and maybe I should just be happy with that.

Just because I want something, doesn’t mean I’ll get it, I suppose.

I’ve got my cert III already. To do cert IV in vet nursing I need a placement in animal industry first, hence why I took the cattery rejection so hard lol

Not from what I saw. Other industries yes, but vet nursing they want us to source the placement ourselves. Even their grad careers page had nothing in animal industry. Totally wild considering the resources they had for the actual classes I took

Yeah I saw their grad jobs board and it looks like the ones unis use. That sucks that they make you source the placement.

I did a bit of research into the course and it looks like they want you to work as a vet nurse before you actually start the course. At least this one did unless I read it wrong.

Cold call a bunch of vets?

                That’s the next step, I think, that’s a good point 💜

Shame the vast majority of vet nurse jobs posted want me to have the cert IV already lol riddle me that Batman chicken and egg shite 😂

Exactly! I thought the course was supposed to teach you how to be a vet nurse 🙈

Just remember it will get better in time and eventually you will feel less shit, even if your mind is being a biatch

Forgive my butting in on the matter… but one of the vet clinics I use has over the past couple of years upskilled their ‘reception’ staff with vet nurse training. I know its not the job you want, but it could be a start given your previous experience.

Is this something you can circumvent by volunteering at the Lort Smith? Though I don’t suppose you’re allowed to volunteer for nursing… or with qualifications, are you? I don’t know. I’m not qualified to know how any of this works.

              Just looking for loopholes.

How the hell do they expect people to get enough experience to be hired if nobody will hire you for lack of experience?

Im so sorry. It’s hard to miss out when you’ve put so much work in. But you shouldn’t despair yet. I know people who graduated from all sorts of things where it took time to get a foot in the door. But they eventually did, and it worked out for them. If you are still keen to pursue it, then keep going. This may be irrelevant, but are you able to travel out of town for work? I knew a person in a similar field who got a placement in a rural area, far less competitive. Commute might be tough for a while but might give you a start? I hope you can be kind to yourself, get some rest over the next few days.
