He’s magnificent. But, multiple rounds for a call centre job? Bonkers.

Haha it’s alright, it’s a rather small-ish business and sort of niche. The interview today was about my skills and exp, the next will be a culture interview to see if I get along with the team, because it’s a small team.

I’d gripe about it if it was a large call centre, but I see the reasoning and agree with it on this scale.

Just had a long chat with the Young Seagoons. They are coming in 11 days!! I am so excited, getting the house ready and preparing their belongings so it’s easy for them to pack for their trip to Belgium and Canada. There will be many hugs and maybe tears.

I am also going to be baking a giant cookie the size of Master Seagoon’s head for a belated birthday present ( it’s what he asked for …lol )

It will be a maple syrup cookie in the shape of a coiled snail. :)

A year on from Toby’s death, I’m finally cleaning out some things I just put out of sight, out of mind.

In saying that, does anyone know of any rescues that would like a donation of freshly laundered, assorted tiny dog jumpers, costumes and bow ties, along with unused bowls, blankets and beds?

When I volly’d at Lort Smith there was so much of that stuff around that we couldn’t really use. I’d say launder and to the op shop or even gumtree/marketplace freebies for someone looking to get a dog.

We should go for another beach walk sometime.

Anyone else interested in a wander along Beaumaris dog beach sometime?

    Cat medical, bummer, cancer mention

I read the email with Melbcat’s blood results and her kidneys have improved but the specialist is saying that the lesions may be in situ carcinoma. So they might have already turned cancerous without spreading deeper than the skin yet.

I’m trying to stuff down my emotions and just remain upbeat as possible but spent last night bawling and panicking.

Going through old pictures the first spot seems to have visibly appeared in January ‘23 (and I thought it was cat acne from not being allowed to wipe asthma medication off her face, then just a booger or a scab) so while actinic keratosis is slow to spread or or turn it’s had ample time before I realised what it was.

Deeply regret not buying the pet sunscreen years ago when I was going to. I’ll also have to be mean and stop her sunbathing at the window.

The Aldara cream may still be effective if the spots are cancerous, as long as they’re very thin and surface level, but it’s important that she can’t lick it off. There’s also the chance that the cream causes too much irritation and another treatment has to be pursued.

    I’m really scared.

      hugs

      1. may be. Don’t start panicking until you find out for certain.

      2. You don’t have to stop her sunbathing, you can get at bunnings window films that will block UVC.

So my bestie magpie friend rocked up this morning outside the studio as she normally does and barked at me lol. Not aggressive, just something I’ve never heard before. Normally it’s a warble, but this was a one off note. Gave her some grub, did her normal song. Not sure what that was all about.

When I got my CPAP I was exhausted at first. I think my body was just so excited to be sleeping properly it was ready for as much as possible. And weird dreams about reaaaally old /deep stuff. Like it was all stored in the buffer waiting for processing. I say just enjoy the sleep!

Breaking my fast in style this morning. Or, as I just realised, this afternoon. Making this brunch, I guess!

I may have got a touch overexcited. Probably because I haven’t had breakfast and it’s apparently already lunch time (although I’m not sure where the time all went, I thought it was around 10am!)

I just booked my Japan flights!! After trying all day yesterday through trip.com and the airline website, it finally worked today! So excited. Hopefully the flights exist.

Edit: the flights do indeed exist!!

Cat health, cancer mention, surgery mention

I asked questions, got a reply and it could be a Bowenoid in situ carcinoma which isn’t caused by light and I don’t need the UV film. A biopsy and surgical removal could be done by Melbcat’s usual vet but it requires a general anaesthetic.

I’ll talk to them about it. I have fears due to her age and blood pressure (and had a dream about her not surviving a surgery before any of this was discussed). But if she has a good chance of pulling up okay I might think about it.

In the meantime while I weigh things up and maybe arrange it I’ll continue the Aldara.

With older pets, sometimes the risk of anaesthesia is higher than the risk of a slow growing illness, considering the age of the pet. Which is why sometimes vets will advise ‘do nothing, just monitor’, because it’s the best course of action for the pets health. Ask the vet what the risks of both are. They can never say with certainty though, it’s always just balancing probabilities. It’s never easy to make these decisions.
