People keep giving me lemon curd. Help.
We have a massive, decades-old lemon tree so guests and family keep asking “can i take some lemons?” And i am "please god take some lemons they are everywhere and the ones i miss that drop make the yard smell like pine o cleen as they rot yes please take the fucking lemons here’s a large bag fill it, fill it to the brim for christ’s sake And lo, they taketh of the lemon.
And then. Aaaaaand then. They feel bad about rescuing us from lemons and GIVE US FUCKING LEMON CURD IN RETURN. Always lemon curd. No tarts no cheesecake, no marmalades, no limoncello, no lemonade, no lemon cakes, no lemongeddon solo derivatives no, just lemon curd. Curd upon curd upon curd. My life is becoming a hell of small repurposed cream cheese jars.
a big box of lemons on your nature strip should help get rid of lemons
the strangers won’t feel compelled to give you lemon curd or anything really, they know they are doing you a favour by taking them
sadly last time I tried that the local meth head started hocking them at cars on South Road

HOW MANY BAGS WOULD YOU LIKE
@Taleya sometimes local grocers take them to sell in their shops, which could be an option for you. You could swap them for something you want, or just donate them.
Buy something large and heavy from Temu. Put in for a free return, but fill the box with an equivalent amount of lemons instead. Make sure you put the reason for return as “item was a lemon”.
@Taleya @YarraByte have these people never heard of lemon butter? Lemon tarts? Monsters.
@Taleya @YarraByte @stib preserved lemons? As per Moroccan tradition?
I made those once a few years ago. Didn’t care for them, so i’m cool with them missing the list
@Taleya they are an essential ingredient for a range of things, and useful in salads too. But mostly used in tagines
I don’t see the problem. Love the stuff.
So do I. That should give you an idea of how much curd is being inflicted.
Hahaha. I get it. It’s like when every year for birthdays, Christmas, Easter I receive boxes and tubs of Maltesers from friends and family. I love 'em but please stop.
My inlaws give me massive jars of olives. I love olives but not those olives. I’ve had to decline at times which leaves them sad.
Let me guess. They give you green olives?
Yeah. They are the biggest jars I’ve ever seen in my life. They don’t fit in my fridge.
I will trade you lemons I fucking LOVE those cunts
I don’t need lemons. I go shopping at my inlaws. They grow a lot of food.
teach them to spanish stuff
Teach me cos I don’t know what that means.
spanish stuffed olives are the ones you get at any grocery store, the green ones in vinegar that have had the pips cored out and stuffed with peppers (well pimento) instead.
Right got it.
You know how you say you have a large lemon tree well they have TREES plural. Buckets and buckets of olives. Enough to make litres of olive oil which is delicious. Happy to take that. Pipping and stuffing ain’t an option.
Salt preserved lemons are good, and easy should you wish to try
If you have heaps and are on the same side of town, I will happily take some lemons! I like the selling idea that Huw gave or even just leaving them in front of your house in a basket with a free sign

You don’t see the other side
I will show this picture to my baby lemon trees as inspiration.
I covet this tree
My lemon tree shames his bloodline.
He’s a true classic beast, came with the house. Farken pear tree is three times the size!
Spiny?
kinda, but in that way that you don’t really notice if you get what I mean
Ah. One I had at an old rental was pretty frecking dangerous, spines bigger than fruit
Wonderful. Reminds me of my grandma’s lemon tree before her neighbour reduced it to a stump.
@Taleya @YarraByte how sad for you.
I also have a loads and loads of lemons from the lemon tree, but noone wants to take them away and return them as curd to me.
Why don’t you try giving the curd away.
People want the jars back
accidentally put them in the recycle bin or say they broke because they shouldn’t have been repurposed
I can’t go smashing people’s jars in this economy!
@Taleya :blobcatsurprised: oh! how demanding of them!
I feel you are failing to understand the sequence.
I am drowning in lemon curd. I Cannot on gift this lemon curd because the original gifters want the jars back. These jars therefore cannot in good faith be passed to yet another party who may fail to return them. I am now their custodian, the one to guarantee their safe return. They have become chinese obligations.
@Taleya I get that.
so I do not understand the sarcasm you appeared to employ when I reply to “can you give them to someone else” with “They want the jars back”, you see my quandary?
Or it may have not been sarcasm I’m kinda working against both text interface and a peak ASD day here
@Taleya I’m not being sarcastic.
Not a big fan myself. Lady who lives nearby was doing the same, taking lemons and giving us jars of curd. After the third time I said, can we stop giving lemons to this woman FFS!
Came home from work sick - chills, fever and shaking in every joint. If not better by this arvo, will contact nurse on call.
Courtesy of nurse on call, the nice paramedic has just been and filled me full of antivirals. Back to bed until they kick in.
Go to bed. Go directly to bed. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200
Please do and keep us updated!! Rest and water for you!
Hope you feel better soon ♥️
Meep. Get well soon.
oh dear
bed, water, aspirin or panadol
Fantastic idea
Rest up, hope you’re on the mend soon
Tonight’s wave:

Not a soul on the beach tonight.
You were a soul on the beach tonight my G. Nice wave.
My irritating next door neighbour is having visitors over tomorrow during the day.
Guess who’s going to be gardening and using each and every power tool available.
This guy right here.
I actually have to do gardening, but now I have a reason to be very thorough and meticulous.
Angle grinder on rebar (safely) time!
I like your thinking.
Blast the music for motivation.
Once the mowing is done, we’ll definitely need some tunes to assist with the weeding and pruning.
DSLR cleaned and ready for the sunset swim and dins. C’mon waves I need pretty pictures.
You’re brave bringing the camera out there
In the water

Early night to night. Good night everyone, sweet dreams 😘
Tomorrow I’ll finish some garden work, go for a walk , do some stuff around the house and listen to some vinyls I bought at the opshop today . Just a relaxing day.
I’ve played three games of chess today and won them all.
Granted, my opponent is 11
Doesn’t matter. A win is a win. Onya. 👍
Good morning all. I have another day in Melbourne today, followed by lasagne with my mother. May the traffic gods smile upon me and the sun not shine too brightly into my eyes as I head directly towards the searing fireball of morning.
Edit: the traffic gods smiled, I arrived quite early. And the searing fireball was tempered by some low lying clouds and so I arrived with my eyeballs intact and
fully funcitionalas functional as they normally are.Interesting work week. My manager is moving to a new department - and our whole team is actually devastated because she’s a legend. Had a few very good client interactions. One was a vulnerable person, homeless, and a bit abusive - his experience thus far with our company for what he was trying to do left a lot to be desired to be fair. He spoke with me and I decided I would not end the call until I’d resolved his issue. Ended up having to call him back 7 times to get the job done, but we did it, and he was very thankful in the end. My efforts did not go unrecognized internally either and I got a few shout outs. Felt good!
so many hugs and kudos for caring
it must be incredibly hard to be homeless, that any homeless person has patience or has any manners at all is amazing
( saw a homeless man today in pjs at the train station, dragging his suitcase. He has no bedroom, no privacy, no personal space, all the places we use when we self care. They lose so much that we take for granted 😔.
One time I saw a group of homeless reminiscing about home cooking. Just random things we don’t think twice about 😔 )
On the otherside, reminiscing about how everybody in a squat would turn up with a handful of something and a a pot of pretty good soup would emerge.
I wish I could be chill like that. I’ve had mixed experiences with people in squats.
I managed to help one girl in a bad situation, others kept to themselves and I covertly dropped a few things off without interacting or narcing (vegetable seeds and cat food).
Others were bad news though
Finding chill seems to help. Other stories are about belting yourself onto rafters to sleep. In somewhere many here may well have had coffee
It sucks because I could help to some degree but have had to learn to be so wary :/
Family gathering on Sunday for the October/November/December birthdays, including my dad.
As a present to them, I’ll be baking pretzels :3
Gathering ingredients tomorrow and prepping dough, shaping, and then bake Sunday morning before making the trek to Doreen.
I hear cousin is making tiramisu, and uncle (host) is doing something in the smoker or bbq (I’m hoping smoker).
Should be fun!
Edit:
I am being O B S E R V E D

Cats love yeast. Be careful he doesn’t eat any raw dough
Oh yeah in conscious of that! I’m lucky in that he has never been inclined to jump on the benches, even when I was baking every few days during COVID lockdowns. He just never cared to. Jumps on all the other tables, never the benches 🤷🏼♀️
Wicked For Good has been seen! The costume department absolutely knocked it out of the park, so many beautiful pieces. I wore sparkly green eyeshadow and sparkly shoes, love me a theme.
One of my work friends went to see that and absolutely loved it, too. Had a good cry n all
Can’t saw I was that inspired by it, but I love that your work mate enjoyed it that much!
🎆
Mickey is so funny. He asks to be picked up, so I do, but sometimes I have to put him down quicker than he prefers (water boiling, toilet, usual home stuff).
When that happens, he’ll rush back over to my legs and bite my calves or bat at my ankles. No real damage or pain to me, but let’s him display his displeasure at the cuddles ending sooner than he’d prefer 😂
TheVoid bites toe/calf when he wants food and there is Pain. He’s a rotten meanie
They do make their desires known, whether we like it or not 😂
You need to sew a baby sling
Oooo I should I should! I’ll look into that after I fix a pair of pants I forgot I had, and now fits me 😂
@CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone’s card from yesterday reminded me of this movie I watched a while ago. Burning Hell is one of those so bad it’s good movies where a pentacostal preacher is telling you how bad hell is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8Pvkl0d_Z0&pp=ygUSYnVybmluZyBoZWxsIG1vdmll
Be warned if you watch this you’ll never be able to get the way he says ‘hell’ out of your head.
I watched this and the documentary Jesus Camp around the same time and I figured something out about these religions, especially in the States; they spend all this time telling you how bad hell is and to not be bad, but never tell you what a good person does. This movie is an entire hour about how bad hell is, with no explainer on how to be a good person or how to get into heaven. Imagine living your entire life only being told what not to do with no direction on what you should do. I think things over there start to make sense by seeing this as the mentality people were brought up with and how they impose their will on others.
Thanks I will watch it this weekend.
Booked flights to Sydney - been invited to a client Christmas event which I can use as an excuse to claim flights / accom on the business, and also using the trip as my “work” Christmas party. I’ve been feeling so wound up and stressed lately, looking forward to a couple of nights away.
